The unofficial songs show a much more sensitive side of Manson. Reznor made him shed that and go full Child Catcher. It definitely worked though.

Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids name change show was the show where Manson got his foot broke and he finished the set with a snapped foot. I've been a fan and a fellow Spooky Kid since day one. Saw him in 97 Antichrist Superstar Tour and Mechanical Animals 98 and they were until today the greatest shows from my teens, along with Slayer and NIN. I miss these days and wish I could've seen and met them back in the first few days of the Spooky Kids.

@cake16613 жыл бұрын
@@skeletonkiss1112 I would say Manson had 4 phases of sound. And I personally only like the first 3 phases. Phase 1 is the early Spooky Kids demos and touring around Florida. They were still trying to figure out the sound and composition of the songs. For example you can tell in these demos that they hadn't quite figured out how to properly incorporate the samples into the music. This phase had a ton of really weird experimental stage stuff that at times didn't really register as 'a rock band making music'. Phase 2 would be their albums Portrait of an American Family and Smells Like Children. The whole sound/image of the Spooky Kids was refined into something more coherent and appealing. You could essentially sum it up as 'what if Willy Wonka, Aleister Crowley, and a bunch of saturday morning cartoon villains started a rock band'. I love this era's live shows what with all the crazy things all over the stage and the energy of the band. This was the era of them playing in front of a Ouija board on a stage covered in bloody baby dolls, marionet puppets, chickens in cages, naked women covered in chocolate syrup, etc. If you want a great example of this era look up them Live at Trocadero in 1995. Phase 3 is when the tone got a bit more serious with the albums Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals. The music took a more introspective turn showcasing the band's rampant drug abuse, self abuse, and abuse of others over the course of their past few tours. They stopped going for 'a silly shock rock band' and instead went for 'what if the Antichrist used a rock band to gain followers'. The music of this time was often genuinely creepy/disturbing, while also being really catchy and appealing to a mass audience. There was a nice balance between that in this era, the notion of them being a weird industrial band that experimented a lot with different sounds, while keeping in mind that to make that sound popular they would have to produce some big hits as well. If you want a great look at this era watch the documentaries Dead to the World and God is in the TV. Phase 4 is pretty much everything post-Holy Wood. I would consider Holy Wood to be a sort of transitional album that still had a ton of the occult hidden meanings of the past albums but the sound leaned a bit too heavily towards 'mainstream metal' for my tastes. After this some members like Twiggy (who is fundamental to the sound of earlier albums), and Gacy (who is responsible for the industrial sound, insane sampling, and occult easter eggs) left which took away a massive part of what made the band great. Not to mention the band got older so in recent years they can't really put on the type of performances they used to do from 1994-1998 where they would throw their instruments at one another, cut themselves on stage, jump on one another, etc. The energy just isn't there. It's like seeing Iggy Pop and the Stooges live but if they're all sitting down calmly performing this harsh punk music.
@skeletonkiss11123 жыл бұрын

Its extremely rare to find any of the Spooky kids demo tapes. If any of them are ever for sale (which they rarely are) they would be hundreds of bucks. I know the lunchbox cassette sold for 900$ recently. If you truly intend to look for copies of the demos (which i wish you the best of luck) be prepared to shell out a lot and save. They are extremely rare and getting rarer
