This has nothing to do with being a"pedo". You have to understand the culture of that time. This movie is about "chorus girls" who traditionally had a perceived reputation of being "gold diggers" looking for their "sugar daddy", the "daddy" referred to in the song. Using the dolls is just a play on this theme. This history goes back to the turn of the century and "stage door Johnnies", who were wealthy men who would wait for chorus girls at the stage door to entertain them with dinner and expensive gifts, sometimes even marrying them. There were many movies made on this theme ( check out "Gold Diggers of 1933"). Of course by today's standards this may be shocking, exploitative and creepy, but at the time it was considered a normal perspective and even funny.

Ей в любом весе было отлично. Просто худышкой более соответствует современным стандартам. Ну и более утонченный образ во всех смыслах получается). Чем когда она пухленько-аппетитная. Камера вообще не любит лишний вес. Ну и в основном она была в таком весе, иногда поправлялась по различным причинам, потом опять худела, в конце жизни вообще прозрачная была, одни глаза остались.
