I definitely recommend the wave wrap series. I have a set of WWB3's and they have held up the exact same, brand new sound for months. Simply amazing feel, sound, and durability. Way worth the price I believe!

For anyone wondering these are worth the price but its very hard to pull the trigger. I bought some awhile ago and loved them instantly. Every person i let play with them also loved them and often times i get asked to borrow them for their recitals. If you really want them wait for a sale or save up. Regardless i use mine everyday for the past half year and they held up better then other mallets I've used.

I think the mallets sound really good in all octaves, but the mallet really shined when they were in their preferred range, so a graduated layout is better, but if you only have one pair, you will be fine

You should review the liberty 1 series of mallets they are on steve Weiss, I am interested as to what you would think because they are by far the cheapest marimba mallets I have ever come across

I enjoy your channel I was wondering if you’ve ever done a video on how to hold 4 mallets(maybe in another titled video) just recently acquired a Ross 409 and have no mallets what’s a good beginner mallet

It is almost 6:30 a.m. in my country and I am very happy to see your video, no matter what's the time. Hahahahahaha. Well, I have to say it is no the first video I saw from yours but, because I have the WW2's, it is very important: now I can have an idea of the entire series and I am agree with you: it is a good option to play anything but these isn't my top favorite mallets (very close, for sure)... Yeah, not very 50/50. Hence, now I would like to buy the WW1's so I am waiting for the Marimba One Sale on August to get two pairs by purchasing just one of them (Yes, the only chance to get these for an affordable price). On the other hand, the next episode would be great to talk about your top chart of hardest marimba repertory excerpts and how to study it... I know, very nerdy subject : ) Finally, I do really love your covers so, could you put a link to see the original version of each theme you play? Greetings from Colombia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey dear Adam. Have you noticed that this mallets has been released with a few modifications about weight and yarn? Would be great if you check what is exactly this modifications and what is the difference between the mallets that some percussionist purchased from the "first generation". Greetings from Colombia!!!

Hey Adam, I was wondering about the height you keep your wrists from the keyboard. What I was taught was to keep your hands only about an inch from the board, and I was curious if you were taught different and which one you prefer and why.

I have two questions about mallets and you're the guy (or anyone else in the comments) to answer it! I want to get marimba mallets, but I don't really want to spend over $40 US. I want this mallets to be good at all ranges, since my high school band is playing forgery (John Mackey) and Rain (I forget who) and William Tell Overature, Oye Como Va, 2001 space theme and Pirates cove for a percussion ensamble. So, I've really looked into Robert Van Sice series, but I don't definitevely know the difference between monotonal and duotonal mallets to purchase one pair. Is the any other names to look for? And I love your video and can't wait for you to reach 1k subs! I'm going to share your marimba warmups with my drumline to see if they'll subscribe :)
@AdamTanPercussion7 жыл бұрын
Logan Vogelsong For that price range of course I'd probably go Van Sice, the mono tonal series just has one clear hardness per mallet while the duo tonal gets softer at soft volumes and harder when you use more power. I reviewed Dragonfly marimba mallets earlier on in the series as a great contender for ensemble mallets also 😀 Thanks for watching!
@FollowJesus777-KING4 жыл бұрын
How did those mallets hold up over the years? (If you used them a lot) like did they break down slower than other mallets, justifying the price
@sparlingsfarm7 жыл бұрын
Great video. Any thoughts as to what would be best combo for playing Libertango by Sammut? I guess depends on marimba and the player but how about 4433? (not for me I should add but my son) So hard to get to try out mallets before buying.
@AdamTanPercussion7 жыл бұрын
sparlingsfarm I love Libertango! I would say 4432 for that top voice and the weights are pretty similar anyway, but yes definitely your son's personal preference 😀 I know, I wish I had a way to try out mallets before watching. Hope my video makes it a little easier hahaha, thanks for watching 😄😄😄
@sparlingsfarm7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Adam - yes it's a great piece. 4432? So buy three pairs instead of two? Expensive business :) indeed your videos are very helpful and interesting. Keep it up!
@AdamTanPercussion7 жыл бұрын
Of course I forgot WWs don't come in graduated... 4422 would be a better difference than 4433 then in my opinion :) Thank you!

Hey Adam! I've just recently discovered (and fallen in love with) your channel, and I was wondering if you could do a review of the Marimba One Double Helix series of mallets. I recently got the birch DHB2s and really enjoy them, and I want to know your thoughts on them. Thanks again, keep up the good work!
@AdamTanPercussion7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Tucker! I have reviewed the double helixes before (half of the range) on my channel, but I do like the DHB2s - they were some of the first 'real' marimba mallets I tried to use from a friend. Still not my first pick personally but I can see why people would like it :)

I love the wave wrap series!! I made a big investment and bought the whole line! If anyone is interested in the wave wrapped series Steve Weiss has, to my knowledge, done a buy one get one free on the wave wrapped series three times since 2015! It's a big investment and I missed the BOGO event the first time and waited to see if they would do it again and almost a year later they finally did it! I dropped $500 and got the whole set with the BOGO deal, so it saved me $500! So if you're really interested in buying these and don't need them asap and can hold off and be patient, then I would wait and see if Steve Weiss holds the BOGO promotion again!
@AdamTanPercussion7 жыл бұрын
I love when Weiss does BOGOs... just wish I had money to buy more mallets HAHA #TheMalletAddiction
@zcjm957 жыл бұрын
Adam Tan me too!! I wish they would do a bogo on malletech or Vic firth mallets! Malletech has some great lines, the concerto series, burrit series, and the Eric Sammut's are some of my favorite! As well as Vic firth, my professors at my university are Vic firth artists and they both have every mallet, stick, and beater and everything else that Vic firth offers!! It's amazing! Also you should make a video on what you believe are some standard must know pieces or pieces that you think others will enjoy and should play in their career! I really enjoyed your videos! I barely found them and watched all of them already. I look forward to continue to watch them and see what the future holds for you channel!!

If I were to only buy two pairs of these mallets, which level(s) (WWB1-WWB5) do you think would be the most versatile?
@AdamTanPercussion7 жыл бұрын
Good question! I find myself using the 4s 3s and 2s the most (4332, 4322, 4433, 4432 etc)... I guess maybe 4 and 3 if you had to get two pairs only!
