Cool stuff! Could you give some context to the landslide formation that you're standing on in this video? Are landslides common in this area/within serpentinite? Is it active?

Absolutely! This particular landslide formed very recently relative to this video, at the time there was a lot of rain that had caused parts of the hillside to mobilize, even covering the trail we were on! Serpentinite erodes very easily, and in locations like the Northwestern beach of The Presidio landslides can be quite common, however this one was suspended and not active at the time. There is a very good example of a Serpentinite landslide in western Washington, called the Swift Creek Landslide, notable for the high levels of asbestos that have been polluting the local river system.
