The first time I heard this piece many years ago it so moved me, and I never forgot it. It is one of my top favorite classical songs.

La musique Baroque est sublime. Diversité d'origine, de style, considérable puisqu'elle s'échelonne entre 1600 et 1750 c'est dire le choix indépassable de pépites qui s'offrent à nous. Cette pièce en est une.

LOVELY ! And really heartening to hear the beauty and profound mystery of this masterwork so respectfully teased out by a virtuoso ensemble AFTER hearing it being decimated on the radio in a hideous recording by the MUNICH PRO ARTE ORCHESTRA. Thank you for knowing ....and displaying how this should be done with period flair and nuanced finesse.

Es una pieza de inigualable belleza y armonía. Una joya del barroco, incluida en la banda sonora del film de Alain Corneau. "Tous les matins du monde ".

I loved “Tous kes matins du monde”. It was my introduction to Marais and the music of his era, which I have loved since.

This piece is not so easy for the cello. Unless you tune your a to a g, or ignore the double stops in some places.

I love this. It's heavy and hypnotic.

The clapping at the end sounds like the viol part of the song.

Beautiful piece. Unfortunately the violin is occasionally flat in many parts of this performance.

I believe the violin played all the émotions required and more. After hearing many renditions, this was the best performance I have heard.

@@bernhardkirchner5447 Yes you're probably right. The harpsicord at that time was just intoned.

French music needs more tendernece, more softness and no harsh playing in a matcho way. This piece is one of the most spiritual pieces I have ever heard. Its circle sounds like dervish music of kurds! If we play it having its divine dialog we end up with a very different result.

Marais himself in the preface recommanded the cello in the case there would be no viol available, sooooooo ... ^-^

I know right? To me it's the same as Bach on a grand piano.

This is a prime example of why I only listen to Baroque music! Why would you listen to anything else?? Honestly, all other music is like eating a big bag of Doritos. Sure, it is eatable and may taste good, but in the end you just ate crap.

Seriously? You can hear nothing of value or beauty outside the parameters of your own narrow-minded little Baroque world? How sad for you.
