I'm writing a story about a woman who ages backwards only for her to stop physically aging at 27 years old, yet 47 years old mentaly. Her name is Aurora Angelie Brockman. And this song screams my story book character. All she ever wanted was a family and to live in the suburbs as a suburban housewife. My story book character is very traditional. She heavy encourages traditional roles and values. She needs and depends on her man, boyfriend, husband. And all she wants is to be loved, have a strong protective masculine husband. Have up to eight swell children and live in the suburbs as a suburban housewife. It's okay to traditional. Let's all encourage traditional roles and values. Period!

Greetings, this song is about the book of the same title(Following the same meaning) which is an actress turning to drugs(Dolls is a slang term for painkillers) trying to fill the void inside of her as showbiz is a place often void of actual friendships and she plays so many different roles she doesn‘t even know who she is. Well it‘s actually about 3 women with all the same problems. Marina has also stated herself that she doesn‘t think women were genuinely happy during the era of housewives. Anyways I recommend you to read Valley of the Dolls or watch the old short film if you can it‘s very interesting. I just wanted to enlighten you to the actual meaning behind this song, however you may think what pleases you.
