I went through boot camp in 1997 and I'm telling you the videos the guys watch on Marine boot is the PG version. Once those cameras are off it's a completely different world.

@@Chazz_US_MarineI’ve never been in the military, my mom was devastated when my older brother enlisted, as it was right after 9/11 so she was rightfully worried sick about her oldest boy, therefore she made me promise her that I’d never join and I respected her wishes. But I’ve always been fascinated by what goes on in marine boot camp. Would you care to elaborate on what are some of the craziest things you’ve witnessed?

craziest thing i saw is during our 2nd week of T-Days we had to get a new drill instructor (KillHat) because our previous one bootkicked a kid in the face while he was doing push ups and was demoted to the rank below , the kid was placed in MRP for a broken nose @@johnselwitz5362

On line in the squad bay one day this dude across from me had this crazy unibrow. DI came up to him and said, you'd better show up with it cleaned up or with one eye next time. Epic.

The Senior Drill Instructor is supposed to be the calm one but will still lose his shit instantly. If you see them wearing a black belt, that's the Senior. The green belts are supposed to be harder.

During my boot session we had a 3rd hat get promoted just before 3rd phase, so we got a new one...a barely 5 foot Filipino that we couldn't help but laugh at, at first. He used it to pit us relentlessly but he was getting just as sandy and tired as us. The respect he got at graduation was top tier.

I went through USMC boot camp in 1964. The following is the most memorable experience of my first night. It was about 0300 when the drill instructors came to get us and take us to our new barracks. They screened and cursed at us to wake us up. It was frightening because no one expected it. A recruit in the top bunk bed across from me remained in bed. Cpl Larsen, one of our drill instructors grabbed the recruit by his ears and threw him on deck (floor). He picked him up and slammed into a wall locker, calling him several different kinds of SOBs and MFs. That was the first terrorizing exprience I had in the Corp.

You think you’d laugh until you actually got caught laughing. Another recruit made me laugh, a drill instructor saw it.. he made me fill up a yellow mop bucket then zig zag through each rack in the squad bay with the bucket extended. If my arms dropped (and they did) I had to start over, and had to yell “ha ha ha” the entire time. After that - I was brought up to the quarter deck for another 8 minutes of love. I never laughed again.

Once you learn to trust your equipment/harness and that endless stretch in the rope when you first lean back 😳😱 and it seems like it's never gonna stop it actually becomes alot of fun rappelling ! My first experience of rappelling was down a 135' cliff Man you talk about being intimidated lol eventually got to the point that we were doing night rappelling! That was 😎 cool as chit what was crazy about doing that was the Rappelling down was the sane part but free climbing back up that 135' cliff in the dark was the INSANE PART 😅

I went to Parris Island in 1984, BCo, 1stBn. We had a drill instructor who spoke with a lisp. When we were cleaning rifles he would yell "Scwub wecwuits, scwub!!" instead of "Scrubb recruits, scrub". It was so hard not to laugh.

I am a former Russian Marine (everyone from 18 to 27 years old serves in our army, one year, though if you don’t go, you won’t get anything for it, but I was interested and I decided to go there), no one screams, no offends, on the first day when we entered the barracks, a very "warm welcome" awaited us, the guy standing next to me was approached by the one who had almost served a year, looked at his feet, and said "do you not see any problem ...? "(his feet were in a II shape and should be in a V shape), and he hits a spinning kick in the chest) this is better than any screams helps to learn all the necessary lessons)

no it is not early in the morning when you arrive, it is very late at night. Then you dont sleep for the next 36 hours so they can get you on their schedule. If you listen and realize they are breaking down the self to promote the unit mentality, it does become "easier". Semper Fi
@Riceball01

I remember that almost like it was yesterday. You arrive in the middle of the night and from that point on you're running around all over the place making phone calls home, getting your hair cut, uniforms, filling out forms, and goes on all day. You don't end up going to bed until later that night. I don't think that I was ever so tired than on my first day/night in boot camp, lots of hurry up and wait and trying hard not to fall asleep.
