You realize that same concept could apply to Americans right? This country is young, it will fail eventually, its already being sold out to foreign countries for all our American corporations, using Asian slave labor. Leaving masses of young Americans to fight over the "best" restaurant and retail jobs.

War just sucks. Period in my opinion I sacrificed both of my legs and my left arm above the elbow during my second tour to Iraq in 2007. Our units never gundowned unarmed civilians though. I can understand the anger but we have to remain disciplined with our integrity otherwise we agree no worse than an actual enemy.

You have to give all first relevant question in the favor of the military men that are fighting in the vast majority of cases. It's war not a playpen. However in this case it look like the marines went berserk because one of their own was killed. Therefore, the marine squad leader and his men are responsible for these unlawful deaths as they went too far, sad to say. It's horrible to state but it's a terrible stain on the USMC in this incident. this has made the war in Iraq much much harder to prosecute as result.

I don't see this man as a murderer. He clearly shows remorse, and regret, while at the same time he shows respect to the interviewer by not attempting to explain or justify his actions. My guess is that it's because he's not sure if anyone who has never seen combat would comprehend his point of view. He seems more like a man in a corner and up against the ropes than a coward or a murderer. It's probably worse for him to know he killed civilians than any other punishment could make him feel. In fact, as soon as I finish typing this I'm going to google him to find out whether or not he committed suicide. Hopefully he's been found innocent, and if not that he's serving time with dignity.

+Gog Mclaine - I looked into it a little more, and it seems he was essentially acquitted. Whether he truly feels bad about it or not is something I could say, and who can tell. Thinking of situations like this tends to make one think too much, and I've learned to limit my time with it, move on, and focus on making the best of my own life, because we can all rest assured that there will be plenty of news stories like this in years to come.

He's on LinkedIn. His hair is long now, with a smile bright as the sun. Imagine being a relative of one of the Iraqis seeing this guy act like none of that happened, and moved across the country to start a new comfortable life and looking like the man in a shampoo ad? The fact that he isn't hounded by protestors at his place of work says a lot about our culture. If he made a mean tweet he would receive more social censure.

Why is it ok for police to kill people when their feeling threatened but the people who are actually serving and protecting their country will go to jail for being in fear?
@CivilAviation16 жыл бұрын
From what I heard from vets is that when something goes wrong or a friendly gets injured on a patrol and they are under fire, they'll shoot at everything that moves, because when they try to escape a situation you don't have the time to differentiate between civilians and hostiles. Sometimes the enemy even dresses as civilians and hide their weapons under their civilian clothes or crates/bags. Though I don't condone the killing of a civilian, I've never been in a war zone and I can only imagine what it feels like in that situation; probably a mix of horror, terror, being sad, and angry, maybe even being afraid if you and your buddies will make it out alive.
@DarkTruthPlatform3 жыл бұрын
May be a good tip is to do not put yourself in a such situation. May be you get sign up to be a solider and to put your life at risk and the innocent civilian he didn't. But he end up being dead and the solider being "protected"

Kitten Hermit what you just said is flawed, basically you are saying if one is unarmed they pose no threat. So from this I can conclude any radical terrorist leaders who are encouraging and dictating people to do unspeakable actions is not a threat at all... hmmmmm makes since to me....
@MrFuntzel6 жыл бұрын
There is a difference between how certain words are used in context by the Military and regularly. I was referring to threat in the context of this unit, to which unarmed people pose no immediate threat and therefor give them no reason to shoot to kill when they see civilians without weapons. A Radical terrorist leader encouraging people to do unspeakable things is as much a threat as an unarmed serial killer back in the US. And as far as I know, even the most prolific and horrifying serial killers in the US don't have execution squads coming into their home, no, they get arrested and stand trial before a court. Ive been in the Army myself (not US mind you) and theres the rule of escalation. Even if someone attacks you without any weapons then you shouldn't immediately shoot them, because you still have a lot of different ways to defend yourself before you must start shooting as they are not a big threat to you without a weapon, you can just knock them out with the but of your rifle easily. In the case of these marines however, they are shooting at people who arent even attacking them and who dont even have weapons, which very much means no immediate threat on their lives.
