Sometimes it's better that way. Yeah it hurts in the moment but later you (should) realize that if someone doesn't think that you are worth their time then they are not worth your time. Don't let people walk all over you just because they look hot. I mean unless that's your thing then uhhhh have fun I guess??? Though if you ask someone out and they say "sorry I can't make it BECAUSE I AM WATCHING THE MARINER MOJO MARATHON" then either put a ring or a restraining order on them. Preferrably both. ;)

I'm sure Roki actually wanted to go to a team that consistently goes to the playoffs. Until the team invests in itself no big name international signings are gonna opt for a team that's far from everything , a tough ballpark to play in ...etc.

I think it's somewhat likely the only reason the M's were able to sign Japanese players in the past was the Nintendo ownership.

Mariners def expressed interest in Sasaki and it is puzzling why they didn't get further, but it's a big stretch, with basically zero evidence, to say they were waiting on a chance to sign him. Ms did plan on signing Santana, and got beat, but they also couldn't get teams to bite on a Castillo trade so they could go after Walker etc. If anything, that's what they were waiting for, the pitching market to play out. If they could have landed Hoerner or Bohm or Casas etc. before a Sasaki signing, and before the free agent (read: not Bregman or Alonso) market dried up, I think they would have. It's also very possible that the Ms took a step back and valued their international free agents more than they did Sasaki, and didn't put Bautista etc on hold while they hoped for Roki. This class could prove to be a lot more valuable than Sasaki ends up becoming, and I think it's more plausible that they went all in on the class, and aren't in fact lost and scrambling after "losing" Sasaki.

Plan A should focus on Alonzo...and trade Luis/Bliss for mayo and a prospect...then you locked down your infield with Solano playing 2B, Mayo 3B, Alonzo 1B..with Raley/Haniger as DH, Randy, Julio, Victor as your OF's... Cal and JP as C and SS... your bench depth is decent imo...put Hancock as your #5 SP and go into 25 season with that roster/rotation/bullpen
