This cracks me up. I am a Red Sox fan, and if you listen to Red Sox centric podcasts the opposite sentiment exists. It would have to be Castillo plus for Casas.

Why would Sasiki want to be 2nd billing with the Dodgers, Padres, Seattle, Yankees, or Mets? The perfect spot for Sasiki is the Orioles with the full line up of young top players and a solid rotation with Bradish, Wells (when they comes back) Eflin, Rodriquez, Kremer, and whoever they trade for (Burns hopefully)? Sasaki could be the star of the rotation as Henderson is the star of the lineup! Let alone the Tax rates in these other States.

3B is a bigger priority in my opinion. Raley can at least fake it at 1B. They should try to move Haniger contract even if they eat some of the 17 million, use the savings to add to their budget to go sign a veteran 1B like Walker or worse case Goldschmidt Then trade for a 3B Casas does have upside but his injury scares me and we would be getting rid of a solid front end starter plus they would have to go out and replace him in FA and starters are expensive so if you want to replace Castillo you are back to paying around 20 million AAV for a starter lol. Priority in order: 3B 1B High leverage lefty arm 2B Backup C and platoon DH with Raley( if you can move Garver contract)

The best trade that I’ve seen and want too see is Luis Castillo and prospects for Nico Horner and Cody Bellinger. Could even put one of the Mitches in that deal as well. I’m not exactly a big fan of this Red Sox trade it honestly kinda sucks.

People talk about trading Castillo as if he doesn’t have a no trade clause in his contact. If he doesn’t want to go to Boston or be traded at all, it’s not gonna happen
@y6cd3sdzHs1g22 сағат бұрын
That's true, but in reality no-trades are usually a matter of the player choosing when or where to go. Like, they'll exercise the no-trade to prevent a mid-season trade or being traded to a rebuilding team In all sports, players who don't feel wanted are quite willing to go. Trades of Castillo have been rumored in the news for 6 months now, and he's been traded multiple times in his career so he's gotta be at least prepared for a move.

@Methoes123 0 seconds ago Orioles should have: Moved Westy back to 2nd base, moved Holiday to CF, moved Cowser to LF, and put Kjerstad in RF! Then, Sign: Bregman for 3rd, Freid or Eovaldi, and trade for Seattle's Gilbert, Miller, or one of the others in starting rotation. I would have also resigned McCann! Then make a couple of small trades for bp help! Elias and Hyde are total failures !

Castillo is not expensive compared to the current contracts being handed out to very mediocre pitchers (Kikuchi & Severino) this offseason.
@zanedodge5060Күн бұрын
It doesn’t matter, Mariners ownership sees a contract that they think is too much for them and they are going to move it.
@ricardorincon208319 сағат бұрын
Yup so trading him and then replacing him with a FA starter would cost them close to 20 million AAV or more if you want a front line starter. There is no savings, Castillo contract really is a huge bargain
@teko102015 сағат бұрын
It's not "expensive" but its also not cheap. He's probably pretty close to market. Teams aren't going to trade any young, cheap, successful, highly projectable with years of control player while also picking up the entirety of Castillo's contract.

Sox's fan here. Would love to trade Casas for Castillo. Mariners can pay 5 milion per of Castillo's contract. 15 million total. Sox's nation would freak out losing Casas but not me. So far, he's injury prone. We have plenty of youth moving forward. Casas would thrive with the M's and Castillo would love the atmosphere in Boston and bring a dawg mentality.

With Crochet commanding 2 top 100 prospects plus 2 more highly regarded prospects, this means Castillo should command similar or slightly more, right? Castillo makes 20 million more, but has little to no injury concern and 1-2 more years of control, with the option being the variable. What about this... Boston gets: Castillo, Arozarena, Thornton, Celesten(#5/MLB #66), Locklear(#6) Mariners get: Anthony(#1/MLB #3) and Casas I'm trying to think about our top prospect and what we could stomach in a deal if we needed pitching. Castillo has a better track record and more pros than Crochet. I'd stomach trading Emerson for a pitcher like Castillo and a good already established star that can carry a team to fill in that position if Emerson were major league ready like Anthony. Plus you get a prospect back in Celesten who is already deep into the top 100 well before he's 20 and a ready first baseman. That should be plenty.
@justinchouanard3179Күн бұрын
Castillo is 32, Crochet is 25. Castillo's salary always hinders his value as most teams want cheap players. Castillo is declining and Crochet is on the rise. Castillo's value is just simply lower than Crochet's for these reasons.
@jeffnak5598Күн бұрын
@justinchouanard3179 He had 1 not great year. The previous year, he was a Cy young finalist, that's not decline. Decline is multiple bad years stacked together. He's still great and with the prices pitchers are going for this year, he'd get close to 35 million per year, meaning he still has good positive value. Boston being a franchise with no money problems, money wouldn't be a concern like it would be for Cleveland or Tampa Bay. The trade idea I gave should be in the realm of packages both teams would like.
