Marings are not kukis. Difference between Maring & kuki (1) land holding/land use system. In kukis village chief is overall land owner, he is landlord. The villagers are the tenants. Whereas in Maring land is community /public ownership. (2) Marriage : Among the Kukis, marriageable boy/man has to get marry his maternal uncle's daughter.
