Was the gold UMD ring painted or purchased ? I've got a white and gold PSP so a gold UMD ring would be ace !!

I painted a replacement ring. Gave it several light coats and gave it a clear coat.

Hey Tim, what are you doing for the battery. Are you using the official or are you using a phone battery?

Offical batteries unfortunately are just too old now. Sony stopped making them years ago. Now I use KMD brand battries. Search for KMD 2600 mah psp battery. You can get them from Micro Center if you have one near you. Runs about $25 bucks. I'm very happy with them.
