Defense is not fixable. Ten games in, don't expect improvement. The injured players that return will not be in game shape and will be placed on limited snaps.

Our defensive personnel have low/horrible defensive IQ! We’ve been seeing a lot of backs against the ball, players not identifying formations and motions, players trailing motions or just being late to assignments, and eyes in the wrong places! Lastly, the real issue with the is the DLine! They’ve been underperforming at every phase! Sacks, TFL, pressures, and run-stops have all been nonexistent in the last 5 games!

I said that Louisville stopped using helmet coms. And started using the hand signals from sidelines and saw improvements. Also WE SHOULD be putting their defenses in a bind by moving our skill players to the side where they have an advantage you know scheming guys open

I’m sorry but if it’s 10 weeks into the season and your players still don’t know how to freaking line up it’s coaching. Obviously they aren’t putting our players in position to be successful and making changes so they understand what’s going on. I’m completely bewildered because I don’t remember seeing a defense this lost and it’s the entire defense not just DB’s. Poor tackling, linebackers are lost and secondary is a mess. You spent millions of dollars in the transfer portal on the D line and the DE’s can’t set the edge or stop the run against basic offenses. GT’s coach has exposed Miami 2 years in a row. I hope Miami can get their $hit together because I’m not confident in this defense and some poor coaching decisions have me scratching my head. Hopefully this loss wakes them up. Go Canes. 🙌

This defense will be the death of this team. The part that worries me is they have gotten worse throughout the season. The secondary appears to be clueless and confused. I hope they pull it together so we win the ACC and make the playoffs.

@@wlthomas8, I get what you’re saying. However, just because the 4-2-5 is being used by other programs does not mean that Miami should use it. This formation obviously isn’t working for Miami. They need to try other formations in order to see what works best. If Mario can’t take control of Guidry and his lame decision making then Mario is ultimately the blame.

@@seantaylor5541 yup but that 3rd 18 was killer. D Basically played against a triple option. GT did a lot of stuff offensively that they didn’t do all year..i expect wake to try and duplicate some of it with their slow mesh reads. Limit possessions & shorten the game.

Defense must stay focused on their assignments and not be fooled with motion like what happened in Tech game. Play assignments and defense will be OK.

The D is totally fixable. DEs need to be disciplined & set the edge. DEs crashing inside against GT left open areas for all those run plays. Also, play three LBs (including Alderman) as the front 7 should be the strength (not failing to set the edge & letting runners run free in the second level where our weakest links are forced to tackle). Play disciplined. Set the edge. Do not crash inside. This is super simple & would fix a ton of issues. Easy.
