Absolutely love this video, I love when I see KZbin videos about all these other Mario scratch games that I and many others have made and not just Scratchnapped or a Super Mario Bros. Remake (even though those projects are still really good). I remember playing your Super Mike World games and being very inspired by them as well! Love this video and will continue to watch all your other content on KZbin and play your new games that are being made on unity! Thanks!

You've done such an outstanding job editing this video and I love your commentary on the games here and Scratch in general. I'm flattered I was included in this mix of games here. Back when I first joined Scratch about 10 years ago, I really only used it to play Mario games when I wasn't allowed to us my brother's Nintendo DS (and since you asked, my first Mario game was New Super Mario Bros.). I found tons of really fun games there and have lots of nostalgia for those days. Once I got a bit better at coding with Scratch and I wasn't really into playing games there as much as I used to be, I really wanted to make Mario games that people like me back in the day could enjoy. I'm also really happy to see people that were inspired by my little fan game exceed what I was able to do even with my best work, like DuckGoose has done with SMOS6 Enlightened. It's always the coolest thing to see people push what the definition of a Scratch game can be.

This is an incredible homage to the entire history of Mario games on Scratch. I can't say I've been a massive part of the history behind the Mario side of things but I can certainly say that Super Mike World was one of the reasons I kept going with my Spyro fan game simply because it proved to me that high-quality games can be made with the engine, and I'm still working on that to this day. Thank you so much for making this!

This makes me very happy to see someone appreciating Scratch. The community for the most part is really wholesome, and that coupled with incredible creativity and coding has created some of the best video game experiences I've had to date. It's just a really chill corner of the internet, and I'm happy to see it get the love it deserves! Too bad my Mario Scratch fangame isn't anywhere near close to done yet (especially since this would be a great place to get it out there), but hey, what can you do. Seriously again, this video is amazing, and I can't thank you enough for the kind words to these creators.

I liked this video. It’s cool to see my project in the video. According to the footage, it looks to be the older version before I revamped the entire thing from “scratch” (no pun intended). The new version includes a demo and more accurate details. It’s the same two levels, as I can’t get moving platforms to work in the engine I’m using. Thanks for playing it! 😀

There's also the Scratchnapped games by Griffpatch, but those always get talked about so it's nice to see others get the spotlight here (not a diss on Scratchnapped though). If you have the knowledge and cleverness you can really do some pretty impressive things with Scratch. Honestly that's partly why I still use it to this day, I'm capable of using like literally any other superior form of software development with an actual programming language if I want to, but I like working within the limitations Scratch has because if you want to make something ambitious under such limitations, it really forces you to think outside of the box and come up with so many different tricks and solutions to keep things as efficient as possible that you would never really think of otherwise if you didn't have to work within such restrictions, and it helps improve my programming skills as a whole in that way too.

One time I made a scratch game that was a remix of this paint engine thing called Mario Paint (Literally) and you painted with Mario’s disembodied head. I made two sprites, one based off of the floating SM64 Mario head and one based off the Mario Teaches Typing Mario head. You could switch between them by clicking on Mario’s face. I was really proud of the sprites I had made, despite the rest of the game being a mediocre remix. I eventually made a Sonic spin-off

2:13 minor correction. The Nintendo Switch Online service uses emulation. Most retro rereleases use emulation as it wouldn’t usually be viable to port the game natively to the system, because the average consumer couldn’t tell the difference. Emulation isn’t illegal. Many legitimate companies use it. Piracy is. As long as ya actually own the game ya are emulating. **IT ISN’T ILLEGAL.**
@Toadfan Жыл бұрын
I'm aware, just wanted to make a little joke 😅
@JoziGlitzh Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that if you own the game it's still illegal, because, tell me, is it legal to go to a game store and steal a game you already own? No, well same thing with emulation
@Krem_Krem Жыл бұрын
@@JoziGlitzh Ok, so for example. How about we have a hypothetical unofficial attachment for a computer that could play PS1 games. To play the PS1 one games ya could insert the game discs into said attachment *or* ya could download the files of the PS1 to your computer via the attachment and play them without the need for said discs. Now that’s emulation. That isn’t illegal in any way. Now say if ya could download the emulator that the attachment uses alongside the game files.
@JoziGlitzh Жыл бұрын
@@Krem_Krem If the attachment contains the game files it would in fact be illegal unless they have permission to do that, as they are distributing the games freely without permission.
