Speed comp is insane in that game. Usually in the last race of the cup one of the characters that always comes last will just take off and be pretty much impossible to catch.

Very unlikely, but very possible. Even then, a perfect rng run can be beaten by a run with better execution or strats :) I can’t wait for the day where a weathertenko is in a all cups run lol

Is there a record for longest times with a first place finish? Like a record for longest race times with 36 points? Like the opposite of a speed run? I used to play with my girlfriend and she wasn't too great so I'd get in first and try to slow everyone down by hitting anyone that passed me while driving as slow as possible, eventually I could make her win any race by sabotaging the competition. Is this a gamer thing?

Is this really on an original N64? The frame rate and general smoothness of the game seems much much higher in this video than on my N64.

Yes, although if you're from Europe or Australia you might be used to the PAL version which runs as a slightly slower framerate.

@@TheFlyingZulu Japanese version will run pretty much the same as the US version. Zooming out the camera with C-Up slightly reduces the lag on some of the really laggy tracks like DKJP. I suppose multiplayer is quite a bit worse as well if you're used to playing that.
