I adore choco mountain, the facelift is certainly appreciated, and being able to play the tour tracks on a Mario Kart I actually enjoy playing is a huge plus! That said, Nintendo, I would be willing to pay for a character and kart customization booster pass (so I can play as Nabbit or Diddy and see something other than Waluigis on Wigglers for a change online)

At that point you're just asking for a whole new game, because why would they put that much effort into for an almost 10 year game. I mean yes look at the tracks they're bringing to this, but to be honest I think whatever tracks they bring for the rest of this DLC, will have been already added to Tour, or will be coming to Tour in the near future. I think they're just doing this DLC to give us more content for the time being while they start to work on the next Mario kart game, and I personally feel like they're being a little lazy to be completely honest, they're (so far with this first wave) just porting the tracks from Tour like I mentioned earlier and upgrading the graphics of them just a little bit, and nothing more. I mean I haven't played much Tour myself, but I'm pretty sure all of these tracks (retro tracks not the Tracks made new for Tour) are in Tour already like I said. So yeah, that's my thoughts lol

To be honest i hated it at first but later on I LOVED Ninja Hideaway, was SOOOO really soooo hard to dominate the track, i spent probably 1 hour and 30 minutes to just be really good on the track, but the design and uniqueness is so OMG that is one muy favorites tracks of all the game and Mario Kart Franchise as a whole, indeed.

I'M IN LOVE!!!! The first wave was such an amazing experience. From being able to play Choco Mountain for the first time in over 20 years (I'm that 90s kid) to exploring several tracks never before played such as all of the tour tracks and Sky Garden. But the ultimate best has got to be the Ninja Hideaway. I was blown out of my mind....and onto the floor! And yes I will be playing again shortly!

It’s crazy to think about how much Mario Kart has evolved.. In my opinion, these tracks did not get the same amount of effort put into them as the base tracks so some of them feel empty. Regardless, they are still fun and welcome additions!

The anti-gravity gimmick like the "3D" slider is fading into obscurity. I don't mind it that much, but still, if it continues to be like that... "Mario Kart 3DS/Tour DLC upscaled for Switch" even mk7 used the glider/underwater more than wave 1 tracks. (for now lol)

I think the other courses felt less empty because they had things moving in the background like banners or birds, which made them feel more alive. These new courses don’t have that. Also the trees and bushes are more basic and don’t have as much detail as the original Mariokart 8 courses.

Overall, the DLC is pretty good. I absolutely loved the City Tracks, due to how they integrate all the versions of the courses, rather than just one. The track selection is also great, although Toad Circuit is kind of a boring track. I'm sure however, that as more DLC waves come out, the tracks will increase in difficulty. I also loved how the tracks for the most part used new remixes. They could've easily reused the Tour Remixes, but instead we get brand new versions of Sky Garden and Toad Circuit. However, here's where my issues start... Sky Garden has been absolutely butchered. Coconut Mall to a lesser extent as well. Sky Garden is missing a majority of its turns and even its difficulty. Coconut Mall is missing the giant sign at the end, along with the boost panels. Miis no longer populate the track, and the cars are now stationary. Then, the graphics. I've always been a believer that graphics don't matter, but it's really jarring to go from Shy Guy Falls or Ribbon Road, to Shroom Ridge or Choco Mountain. Also, Anti-Gravity isn't utilized at all. Of course, all of my issues with the DLC come as a result of the courses being ported from Tour. (Even if two of the courses aren't even out in Tour yet) Overall, the first wave of DLC gets a total score of 8/10

the worst part imo is the anti-gravity... like that's one of the most advertised features of the game (even being on the thumbnail of this video) and like half of its tracks in total (when all the waves are released) wont be utilizing it?

There was actually a potential to add anti-gravity in Coconut Mall in the stairs/ramp sections, but they sadly didn’t add it.

One similar thing that's quite strange is that the track is in a weird middle ground between Toad's Turnpike and Moonview Highway where the order and type of vehicles don't change between races but the color of cars is randomized

I wish we got more courses soon! My favorite is Ninja in this wave. I hope we can get remake of Maka Wuhu and Rainbow Road (3DS), DK Mountain or Dino Jungle or Bowser's Castle (GCN), and Waluigi Pinball or Airship Fortress (NDS), and Koopa Cape (Wii) in the future waves!

Choco Mountain, Shroom Ridge and Sky Garden bring me such a nostalgic feeling when I played on the DS with my buddys. Ninja Hideway has a terrific soundtrack and lore! Love it! My only hopes are getting more Characters or Costumes to have a different perspective :)
