“Blue Shell” sounds horrible when you translate it into German, so I already knew that they are called “spiny”. That’s their German name as well.

@@stooglesgoogles7246 German is a lot less goofy, so direct English translations just sound very stupid. It doesn’t flow with German. For example if you were to literally translate “rock rock mountain” (the british English name sounds a little better tbh), it would sound extremely weird and stiff. It’s something I can’t properly explain in English, just know that it doesn’t work in German. German’s a little too beautiful for these goofy names to be directly translated. Though I’ve also started hearing “blue shell” translated directly in German in a few let’s plays, it still sounds a little weird. Maybe one day, it’ll become more common.

The strategy for blue shell races works, but works better if you stay in third, then go straight for 1st at the end of the race.
