Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 - All 8 Cups / All 32 Tracks - Grand Prix Speedrun - 02:01:12 World Record

Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 (マリオカート アーケードグランプリ 2) is the second game in the Arcade series and the eighth overall. It is a follow-up to Mario Kart Arcade GP, and the game before Mario Kart Arcade GP DX. The game has custom karts for characters, similar to Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS. It contains virtually all the content of the original, but greatly expands it with the addition of several new courses, items and racers.
The game has 13 playable characters, all 11 playable characters from Mario Kart Arcade GP return along with 2 new characters, Waluigi and Mametchi. They all have two karts available: a standard go-kart and a personal kart that increases speed, but reduces acceleration.
The Grand Prix is made up 32 races in 8 cups. Each cup has 2 tracks, separated into 4 rounds. The first 2 rounds are the tracks in normal conditions, and the last 2 rounds the same tracks in different conditions. The cups include: 'Yoshi Cup', 'Mario Cup', 'Waluigi Cup', 'DK Cup', 'Wario Cup', 'Pac-Man Cup', 'Bowser Cup' & 'Rainbow Cup'. After having completed each round, the player receives a challenge. Unlike the previous game, clearing the challenge is not necessary to complete a cup.
There are 2 Grand Prix modes available which are unlocked in order: 'Normal' & 'Special Cup (Reverse mode)'. This run is of the 'Normal' Grand Prix mode which is what you play first without anything being unlocked.

I've been wanting to replay either this or the original Mario Kart Arcade GP, but the last time I played one of those games (that wasn't Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, not that I have anything against it) was at a Chuck E Cheese's that I don't go to anymore. I'm also unwilling to spend a lot of money buying the arcade cabinet online even in the unlikely scenario that I could afford it. Did you know that this game and its predecessor both used an arcade board that's pretty much just a GameCube motherboard? It's called the Triforce arcade board after the object of the same name from Zelda. The name was chosen because it was a collaboration between Sega, Namco, and Nintendo, the latter of whom let the former two use a slightly modified GameCube motherboard in some of their arcade games. Despite the name, no Zelda game was made for it. This game was the last game to use the board. When did said board debut in arcades? 2002. Some of the games used the "GD-ROM" format Sega made for the Dreamcast based on CD technology, where you had to unscrew the lid of the disc drive. In case it wasn't obvious, consumers were never supposed to see the board or disc drive. But some games used cartridges that may have connected to where the GD-ROM drive could go.

This run feels too easy with the JP advantages of upgrades and such. You need to do it with the US one where you have to insert a credit after every race and no advantages are given and the AI gets harder and harder after each win until you lose a race. (The machine at the Dave and Busters near me is notorious for not obviously not supporting the card for saves but said difficulty curve creeped up to the point it was literally bump into a wall and you lost)
