I too was *super* excited to get this track in MK8D... but it doesn't have any of the dense-foggy atmosphere that gave this track a unique feel. The new version feels like a sunny weather with well-defined shadows everywhere, while also near a bunch of factories creating a toxic haze or something... it's just unsettling lol. I'm fine with the cave and air parts, but it also gets rid of most of the corridors and might as well been a brand new track imo.

I grew up with this and many other tacks in Mario Kart DS, and in the new MK8DX DLC it looks beautiful!!! Can't say the same for Sky Garden tho... I love how it looks but it's just not the same as in GBA and DS, they changed it from the way it used to be back in 2001 and 2005, probably to "optimize" it for MK Tour but i personally just don't like that they did that

I love how this is coming to Mario Kart Tour. But the new one looks very different. Instead of the Cobblestone wall 0:18 it will have dead trees with a pit of mist and this part 0:27 will most likely be changed to a cave with gems and swoopers so I’m really excited to see what they do.

Before when I was still kindergarten, I would draw the entire race course because I like the layout & setting. My favorite part in that level is the falling boulders near the water. That boulder hitting Donkey Kong scared me & made me laughed 1:39 / 1:40. Good work & thanks for making me remember my childhood game!

I still prefer this version . I love the fog effects. It makes me imagine your playing just as dawn breaks through. The deluxe version just doesn’t have that same atmosphere

Agreed 100%. Unlike the foggy atmosphere that gave this track a unique ambiance, the MK8D version feels like a sunny weather with crisp well-defined shadows everywhere, but also near a bunch of factories creating a toxic haze or something... it's just unsettling lol. Seems like track creators for the mobile version had conflicting ideas, and of course they didn't bother to improve upon any of it in MK8D (dare I say *this track looks better in World Tour* because at least the weather didn't look so strange). Another reason I dislike most of the DLC tracks because *they were simply ported to Switch to capitalize on the Switch consumer base, rather than improve upon them to fit into MK8D's art style and vastly-superior quality.*

@@Hausbrauen well said! I just dont get why any track involving a mountain or anything involving a tunnel has to be mining themed... Shy Guy Falls, Bone Dry Dunes, Warios Gold Mine. I wouldve loved to see the course with different mario enemies, like throw in spike , instead of rocks raining down its spikes throwing spiny balls. And in the tunnel part have spike tops running around and you have to avoid them. It could've been like baddy central with an early eerie morning vibe. Like they've camped out all night to attack the racers. Now i feel like as much as that seems like a bit too much context im only going off how mk8 devs most likely developed the original 48 tracks. You cant deny they really went all out and made mini worlds. The retro courses like tik tok clock and ribbon road just feel great to drive and look at. Now compare coconut mall, I saw one comment about it that really summed it up, that It feels more like a race course designed to be a mall than a mall that has go karts driving in every direction. Its quite sad, its been remade three times and it cant beat the original

'early eerie morning vibe' describes the atmosphere of this track pre-MK8D *perfectly.* They still captured that in the World Tour version... in addition to the weather in MK8D it looks like a child plastered koopa-troopas everywhere in that version just because they could. lol Did you notice in the new Coconut Mall that they lazily just put blank/white barriers in front of nearly all the stores? In other words, you can't see into most stores at all and they all look closed. I can't tell if its due to laziness, or they're trying to make a commentary on covid lockdowns, or malls being dead now or something. lol... regardless, it was also a track I *really* wanted to see in MK8, and I was equally disappointed to see how rushed it looks.

As someone who grew up with the ds version I would say the deluxe version captures the atmosphere pretty well. In the beginning there isn’t any walls on one side so you can see the misty and foggy cliffs. There isn’t that much fog on the actual track though.

What's bad is the sunny-day lighting effects and well-defined crisp shadows under everything right in front of you (karts, lakatu, close scenery etc) which completely conflicts with that soft foggy ambiance this track was known for. Imo that's what gave this track its identity.
