I think Desert Hills is rather underrated. Yeah it’s short but it was one of my personal favorite retro tracks to play on in Mario Kart Wii.

It's probably true that this theme doesn't get to showcase Marvin's full potential as a drummer, but it does still clearly show he's very comfortable and talented behind a drumset, and really does help make the most out of this music. Up until 8, drums have rarely really gotten to shine in Mario Kart's music, so 8's trend of spicing up the drums a lot is one I'm very happy you're also following! I'm also noticing some different chord progressions here and there, and they really work for the most part! The only place I really noticed it was a little off was the second chord after the melody starts (0:27 for example,) but that's a very minor criticism. The excellence of the rest of this theme more than makes up for it.
