It's such a simple melody, but it has such a high impact on how it is delivered. I'm really wondering if we get a remake soon, since they seemed to skip it, they either delayed it because of missing popularity or because they're planning something special with hit. I really hope it's the latter and they make it into a Switch title which will stun everyone with it's new and polished graphics and incredible soundtrack.

Here we go: 1) Who Laughs Last (Phase 2) - I may have listened to this for hours trying to beat this, but it's a really good one worthy of being (as it is properly titled) 'The Last Cackletta'! 2) The Grand Finale DX - Now there's a battle that knows how to have an awesome tune! 3) Who Laughs Last DX - It's not as good as the original, but still good. It's a different feel. The original feels more... oomph! If you know what I mean? 4) The Grand Finale - This is an epic tune for the epic battle of M&L BIS, but I do prefer it's DX version 5) Adventure's End (Real World) - Oh this is good. This is the standard for final boss themes! 6) Final Battle (Phase 2) - This one is good too! 7) Another's Requiem - This has that 'epic' feel to it, but isn't quite as good as some of the others 8) Decisive Battle (Phase 1) - Bland... it is just bland, really, in comparison... 9) Final Boss - It's nothing special really... compared to the others. 10) Double! - Nothing to say... 11) Decisive Battle DX - Well, I prefer the original...

Paper jams 2nd phase is the best for me personally. It’s buildup to its main catchy part doesn’t take too long and isn’t too short and when the main catchy part comes on it delivers fantastically. Inside story’s is next. It’s not as good as paper jams mainly because it over repeats itself way too quickly which can get annoying. Other than repeating itself too much it’s a great theme. 3rd is dream team. It’s buildup to its main catchy part Is way too long and isn’t satisfying to listen to. However when you reach that catch part it’s all worth it because that part is god damn amazing. If it had a faster build up to its catchy part I would’ve placed it 2nd. Then partners in time. Fantastic song but it’s buildup to its catchy part is slow and even the catchy part isn’t long enough. I will say though this theme alone makes me want another dark plot mario game. The music was fantastic in partners in time and if I can give this song credit for anything it’s that it makes you feel like the end of the world is happening unlike the rest of the themes. And last is Superstar Saga. It’s theme is good but really doesn’t feel like a final boss theme. It feels too jolly in a way. Dunno if that makes sense but it doesn’t give me the “this is the fight of our lives” feel or “the final fight” vibes. Edit: on a side not I wanna say I excluded insides story’s other final boss theme (the bowser junior one) because it’s a side mode final boss. If you want my opinion on it here it is. It’s fantastic. It’s buildup isn’t too long and isn’t too short and when you reach its catchy part it’s amazing and makes you glad you listened to the song. If I had to place it anywhere with the main final boss songs it would go arguably 2nd or joint 1st. It does everything right in terms of how a final boss theme should play.

Alright fellas, here’s my wrong opinion. 1: Adventure’s End -------------------- This one just hits different, man. It’s got an incredible atmosphere that the other bosses don’t have. That atmosphere almost being heavenly, which fits considering the Dream Stone and all that. Even though Bowser’s betrayal of Antasma seemingly came out of nowhere, it feels just right after Bowser’s been used like a puppet for many villains in past games of the series. 2: The Grand Finale DX -------------------- This one adds a little oomph to the original. Other than that, it certainly ‘goes hard.’ 3: The Grand Finale -------------------- Well, they’re both essentially the same song, so this one isn’t very far behind. There’s not much to say about this one that hasn’t already been said a million times over. It’s really good, and fits the encounter well. There was a lot of buildup to this moment, which makes it all more satisfying. 4: Another’s Requiem -------------------- A lot of people would probably be mad at me for putting this one so low, but keep in mind that we’re still in “this song is phenomenal” territory. Yeah, this moment of the game is fantastic, the music fits, and hits, HARD. It’s really great. 5: Cackletta’s Soul -------------------- This song makes you feel like you’re in hell, and you kinda are when your HP starts off at 1. The song is really, really good, and it really, really fits. Not much more to say. 6: Charge and Clash -------------------- For a pretty mediocre game, we sure got a crazy good final boss theme. I suppose it isn’t entirely out of left field, considering that the music is almost always great in Mario games, or even just Nintendo games in general, but it’s has no right to be this good. I really like how striking the piano is at times, when it transitions between sections. 7: Final Battle (Paper Jam) -------------------- Why does the music have to always be this good in the series? Like come on, man. What am I supposed to say? 8: Double Bowsers -------------------- It feels more like a real good castle theme than a boss theme, but it’s still really great. 9: Decisive Battle -------------------- This theme is really good for an opening phase that doesn’t matter at all. This actually makes for a decent surprise when the final phase comes by. Unlike a certain Super Mario 3D Land. 10: Cackletta’s Soul DX -------------------- This remake didn’t do these songs justice in my opinion, but it still kinda slaps. It may be in a completely different way that tones down the main melody way to much, but it still sounds great. 11: Decisive Battle DX -------------------- There’s not much to say about this other than the fact that there’s way to much echo. It makes it feel hollow. This theme is still god, but definitely the worst of the series. -------------------- Edit: It seems this video put phase 1 of Paper Jam’s final boss in the wrong section. I do love The Grand Finale. No question about. But i think what I’m about to say may be a tad unpopular, but I think I like the final boss theme from Paper Jam a tiny bit more. It really hammers home that this is the final battle and I have to give it my all. That song wouldn’t sound out of place in another epic RPG like Kingdom Hearts. Given that Yoko Shimomura composed the music for both Mario & Luigi and Kingdom Hearts.
