I think Paid Online helped do the game in, it made me not play it as much because i couldn't upload courses or play ones online. Also, paid DLC in a sandbox game just flat-out sounds like a bad idea, that's like locking blocks behind a paywall in Minecraft.

Amazing vid man! As as a great start to your channel. I never bothered thinking about it too much but yeah the game just fell off so quickly which is so sad when i remebered always watching so many carlsagon vids back in the day.

I love mario maker 2, but unlike the first game, it didn't have as much soul and life. Also what sucks is that they stopped updating it after a only really a single year. I'm currently working on my final super world for the game.

Mario Maker 2 is one of my favorite games on the switch, and I'm still upset that they fumbled so hard with something that would have made the game even more popular and fun to play.

Yeah whenever I owned a mario game in the past when I was a kid, I would replay that stuff for ages, even if I got stuck on a part lol. But mario maker 2 hardy gets picked up by me. It just feels oddly limiting? Also I remember a flash game litterally being mario maker years before it...

I like the game, it just feels weirdly like Nintendo had no faith in it being a success. The updates were rushed out quickly after the game’s release and about 3 updates later, see ya! I would have expected them to bring back custom costumes and it did seem like we’d get them back but then Nintendo said “Fuck you, here’s SMB2 Mario, go buy Mario Tennis Aces.” An innocent victim of Nintendo’s heartless corporate brain.

If Mario Maker 2 kept getting drip-fed and actually was a big improvement from the first game (maker side) then it would still be alive. But overall, Mario Maker 2 feels like a downgrade in some aspects, and a lot of the new elements are very very forgettable. Who's gonna remember the Twister, or the Snake Block or Swinging Claw

The biggest crime in Mario Maker 2 was not letting you use touchscreen in handheld mode to build levels, because selecting everything like you're writing an essay with an Xbox controller was excruciating.

I think the reason they dropped it is because it undersold. Sure, a couple million sales is nothing to scoff at, but NEW SUPER MARIO BROS U DELUXE sold more than it by a lot... and here we are. Nintendo realized that low effort Mario games are better way to make money over giving them what their community wants. The only high effort Mario game they've had since SMM2 was Paper Mario The Origami King (which still follows the modern Paper Mario trend that many don't enjoy, thus Nintendo not listening to fan feedback) and Bowser's Fury (if anything, seems like the devs were bored during quarantine and made a big open world using their pre-planned Super Mario 3D World port's engine) They may be trying to redeem themselves with the release of Mario Party Superstars, which addresses most the main issues fans had, however, they refuse to add updates to the game (half a year later...) and it had a lackluster amount of items, boards, and side modes.

SMM2 is NOT a failure. 😠 This is the is the game that I play the THE MOST on my switch. Yes, it has some issues, but overall, it is the best game (I think) that I have picked up on the switch. But we’re all entitled to our own opinions. 🙃
