Note that there are, at the time of writing, open giveaways for desktop and iPad versions of Chord Generator on my Patreon, the link is below, big thanks to those supporting my work financially❤. There's also a big Lunar Lander giveaway there. Chord Generator by Mario Nieto (developer of the excellent Harmony Bloom app) is an excellent midi chord generator app for desktop and iPad. This video is a walkthrough of the main features. Of special interest is the “Repeater” function, which - along with the strum section - is also probably the most interesting difference between this and Chordjam. If you find the video useful, please remember to smash the like, thnx! Note: in the video I mentioned that it seems not to have custom scales, but it does: click the pencil icon to the right of the Scale box at the bottom of the UI. Chord Generator iPad version on the Appstore: apps.apple.com/app/chord-generator-by-mario-nieto/id6739507786 If buying the desktop version, you get a small discount by using my affiliate link: marionietoworld.com/?coupon=Gavinski If buying Chordjam or other Audiomodern apps, using my affiliate link is a great way to support my work here at no cost to you: audiomodern.com/?ref=953211370 If you like midi apps, check out my playlist of midi app walkthroughs: kzbin.info/aero/PLl4Ittz8N8V9nCTpwNM3XeF2s5AIkNuau&si=H0D-GCNvxApXzsia And here's my 15-minute long video on my favourite iPad music making apps of the 2024: kzbin.info/www/bejne/noTXpIx3abGme6s ❤️ Important: If you’re a regular viewer of this channel, you’ll know how important it is that I get direct financial support from viewers and developers. Learning all these apps and running a channel like this takes a huge amount of time and commitment, week after week, year after year. What I do really benefits the community, but I get only a tiny income from KZbin ad revenue (around £3 per 1000 views currently) and this niche is so small. The AppStore also doesn’t have an affiliate program and hasn’t had one since 2017, which is one reason why so few people are still active in the iOS Music KZbinr scene. So if you find my work valuable, take a look at the links below and see if you can be a part of helping me earn a fair income from what I do and keeping this channel alive. Big thanks for your support! 🙏🎄 Ways to Support Me 🟪 1. Joining my Patreon, which has tons of plugin giveaways and also exclusive vids, preset packs, AUM session files and more. At the time of writing there is a giveaway there for 5 people to win Lunar Lander by Pulsar Modular: 🟡 www.patreon.com/Gavinski 🟪 2. Using my Plugin Boutique and repeated links The Appstore has not had an affiliate system since 2017, so clicking on AppStore links on my vids gives me no support. But if you are buying desktop plugins, you can use my Plugin Boutique link. Maybe even bookmark it, and use it every time you can, I would REALLY appreciate it! Just go to this link: 🟡 pluginboutique.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b I also have links for Loopcloud, Loopmasters, Beatport and DJCity, thanks!: loopcloud.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b loopmasters.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b www.beatport.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b www.djcity.com/?a_aid=65c7016dea38b Then navigate to the page of the plugin you want to buy. I will get a small commission at no cost to you! 🟪 3. If buying DMT Cymatics presets, please use my link 🟡 gumroad.com/a/999143955 Again, consider bookmarking it! If people use my link, I am incentivized to cover James’s packs, that is a win-win for both James and I, and costs you nothing. Thanks for the support! 🟪 4. You know poppa, I could not have given less of a damn about another chord generation app when I first heard about this. But once I dug in and discovered the strum and repeater sections, I was smitten. Love it!

This has been on wish list since release on desktop. Was trying to figure out what made it different than just being a Chordjam 2.0. Thanks for clarification. Ill probably pick it up on iOS and desktop when i do desktop ill use your link to help support your cause. Great tutorials, as always.

Thnx man - I looked again at chordjam after this, the strum section in this really also has some different stuff going on that can’t be done in Chordjam. Those two sections are very interesting and require minimal setup to get cool results
@DP_GumbyКүн бұрын
I like the different ways you can get variations going and the rhythmic element with strum and repeater is cool! Btw, you can customize a scale via the pencil on the right side of the scale box.

Ah nice one. Some parts of the manual I skipped over, so I missed that, thnx!

Very cool app.

I think the repeater is really nice and makes a difference to Chordjam that should not be underestimated, but it will certainly never be delivered in an update due to the hardly expected necessary changes to the UI design. Audiomodern is known to be rather resistant in this respect ;) Thanks for the demo.

Repeater is killer Chris, I agree, as is the strum section

Thanks Gave - good video as usual...! Just a quickie though - doesn't look like the affiliate link or code is working (not a problem for me as I already have both on desktop...)

This looks like it has a lot of potential. I’m a little lost as to its use case. Is it meant for a live ambient performance, or could one use it as a sequencer to accompany a set piece? Or maybe both or somewhere in between.? Thanks again. This new generation of iPad apps is blowing my mind.
@GavinskisTutorialsКүн бұрын
All kinds of uses, yes. Live performance, messing around with synths when you don't have a keyboard handy, getting song ideas etc. The strum and repeat functions certainly have a lot of potential use in all kinds of genres, not just ambient!

Custom scale option is the pen symbol to the right of the scale dropdown, I believe..

i like your videos, but i wish you would always give a general overview of a plugin first and not go into too much detail right at the beginning, in this video i can't follow you after a few minutes and don't understand anything anymore 😅
@GavinskisTutorialsКүн бұрын
Thnx, sorry to hear that. I feel like this video is pitched right for most of my viewership. It's impossible to get right for everyone, as everyone watching is at different skill levels. What info do you think should have been added to the intro? Cheers

@GavinskisTutorialsКүн бұрын
@RobertoBlatt hi Robert - I feel indeed that some users will struggle with this tutorial but it is because of their lack of understanding of music theory etc. But if I go into all that, the video will get very long and will not be watched by viewers who have an understanding of theory. There are lots of videos on KZbin that can help get the basics! Yes, the first note just shows the root note of the chord. Do a little googling about chord theory and root notes and you will understand. That’s a huge topic, and beyond the scope of my channel, which focuses more on app walkthroughs than music theory. Cheers though and good luck.
@GavinskisTutorialsКүн бұрын
@RobertoBlatt by the way, there is a demo near the end of the video (noted in the timestamps) so that might be a good thing to watch first, then come back to the intro, cheers!

No, no sequencer. Both apps have different strengths I guess
