He loses nothing by going in to see what the options are (I know in this game you can steal stars with Boo's House, but if you can also steal coins he could have prevented Waluigi from getting the star.) He is also really defeatist too, like he only half tries because he knows he isn't as good as Arin (or the AI in some cases). It's fun to watch but also frustrating because I want my boy to do well and be happy.

they're playing using Parsec and not netplay and ive used parsec before and while there is delay if both people have extremely good ping and host has good upload speed and client has good download, There's really not much latency, infact less latency than using high buffer netplay
