Mario Party Softlock $500 Bounty

6:42 IMPORTANT CORRECTION HERE: Eternal Star has no natural Chance Time spaces, but in Mario Party 1, on boards where the stars can move, blue spaces that previously held a star become Chance Time spaces. This works on DK's Jungle Adventure, Luigi's Engine Room, Wario's Battle Canyon, Bowser's Magma Mountain, and yes, on Eternal Star. So as you collect stars, while there may be fewer stars on the board, there will be Chance Time spaces to use where the stars used to be! Note that every time you get all seven stars, the stars reset, removing the Chance Time spaces, but once you get that star, the Chance Time comes back.

I don't know the technicals of TASes, but are you referring to a TAS that can somehow break out of the emulator and act as a Virus on your real computer?

@@sanglish18 Technically speaking there are ways to fake a TAS, like illegal SRAM (for some games like Pokemon, that can even allow ACE from boot-up), or if it's just a video, cheating variables during recording But this competition doesn't lend itself to faking

Snooplax, there's another softlock you can do in Mario Party 1, you can find it in the minigame Key-pa-Way. Just as the timer hits zero, throw the key in your hand - the game will softlock. Why it does this, I don't know.

Snooplax you need to clarify that it has to be the default game. With partyplanner I could make and event where the first player gains 99 stars and visits boo all in the first space.

How would you be able to get 99 stars in only 50 or so turns? Or have you removed the turn limit somehow?

In Mario party 3 there is a item called the wacky watch that instantly makes it the last five turns even if its the last turn. He mentioned it in the video, its the only item that can effect the amount of turns in all of Mario party as far as I'm aware

Like the video explains, you can get multiple stars in one turn.

@@trashymc4564 But that item only exists in Mario Party 3, where the softlock is fixed. So only MP1 and MP2 work for the bounty. You can collect multiple stars in one turn if you're "lucky" enough to get a star spawned nearby and have enough movement left. You can also stop on a hidden star block, giving one extra star at the end of the turn. If starts are way out of reach, collect them with another player. This spawn the next star at the next location, and you will be able to steal the star either via a boo for 50 coins or at a chance time.

@@trashymc4564 Yeah, I guess a lot :D But from what I remember, the location is determined at start and after each block was found, so a could at least go to the location of the next one even if it's somewhat far away.

If this could happen in a legit game of Mario Party, someone would have to be truly sadistic to set this up on their friends without warning them. I'm definitely going to have to re-watch some of the Mario Party softlock videos before the next time my friends and I host an online match together. Y'know... to warn my friends what not to do. :)

I remember once as a kid, I played Mario Party 1 alone. On the Yoshi level, the Wario CPU had enough coin to buy the Star. When Toad asked the CPU if he would like the Star, the CPU pressed "No" and the game softlocked the next turn when I was up. I pressed everything but there was no way to get past the "Yoshi Start" text. Anyone experienced similar ever?

That was shown in the video multiple times as video clips. The point is to not use cheats, but only use the things the game offers you. Not faking stuff.
