I like the control stick spinning minigames. It's pretty funny watching someone get stuck with Pedal Power and getting to destroy their hand while everyone else just kicks back and relaxes. It's also pretty great playing tug o war or that raft minigame and seeing who gives in to the pain and just stops first.

What adds even more about the whole analog stick controversy of this game is that because of that, Mario Party was never released in the N64 Virtual Console for both the Wii and Wii U. They just straight up went with Mario Party 2 to start off the series at the Virtual Console.

6, 3 and 7 are generally the top three. 3 perfected the classic formula (that 4 took many steps backward on.) While 6 perfected the Orb system. 7 isn't as good as six thanks to lacking the day and night system, but a slightly worse 6 is still an easy top 3 in the franchise.

The two Mario Party games I grew up with were Mario Party 7 and Mario Party DS. I loved those games so much. I'm glad they went back to how Mario Party use to be with Super Mario Party, but Super Mario Party is lacking in content a lot sadly. Anyways, great video!

Having played Mario Party 1 myself, I do agree that the game heavily suffers from "First Game Syndrome" (has gimmicks and concepts that only exist in said entry, overall jank/rough around the edges feel, etc.). Later entries would heavily improve the formula. Nowadays it's a game you only back to just to see how the series started/if one is INCREDIBLY curious. As for Super Mario Party, if it had 2 to 3 more boards and an actual fleshed out online mode then it would be a truly great entry. Though as is it seems to be still pretty good though notably flawed. Super Mario Party seems to be the best entry since Mario Party 8 (maybe even Mario Party 7).

All origins to the boards of the characters in Mario Party Mario: The Wing Cap Stage DK: DKC Peach: Let's Bake a cake for you Mario Yoshi: Yoshi's Island (The Island Mechanic) and Yoshi's Story (The Tropical Part) Wario: Maybe Wario Blast on the Gameboy. You use bombs with Bomberman to blow up obstacles. I should also mention this game is made by Hudson Soft Luigi: Honestly, Maybe Proto-Luigi's Mansion Was being worked on. With some games (Mainly Paper Mario 64) They have some things relating to Luigi's Mansion Before the game was released Bowser: Bad Guy. And Maybe Bowser in the Fire Sea Eternal Star: SM64's main game mechanic

I think when I was a kid, instead of rotating with the palm of my hand, I'd sort of grab the joystick, ya know with my tiny hands, and rotate it like that. Might have even held it between my first and middle fingers. Since using my palm would hurt, I figured I was just doing it wrong and figured they intended you to rotate it a different way. Of course I probably lost all of those minigames, but still.

You forgot another reason why this game hurts. Half of the mini games penalize you for losing. 2v2, usually 10 coins. 1v3, 5 or 15 coins.

True Story: My first video game ever was Mario Party 1. It was over 3 years before I even found out there was more video games or even the ability to have more than 1 player. I have more hours in Mario Party 1 than any other game, likely more than most people even have in things like Skyrim. Oddly enough getting into more games never made me dislike Mario Party 1. I still play it almost monthly and don't even use my palm for the rotating mini games. If you ever need an opponent Anthony, let me know! I'll gladly take on the challenge!

I played a lot of Mario Party 1 when I was a kid and oddly, I never had any problems with all the mini-games where you rotate the control stick.
