I'd love to see both Mario and Luigi in an escape level together only catch would be the obstacles would be color coordinated, Red things like water and pipes etc. etc. would be safe for Mario but harmful to Luigi while Green things would be Safe for Luigi only. Just something that crossed my mind one day.

The next 2D platformer needs different skins for the towers. Use the traditional NSMB model for plains, sandstone for desert, lighthouse for beach, tree for the jungle, mineshaft for the mountains, colossal snowman for ice world, colossal beanstalk for the sky, volcano interior for lava world. So an industrial-size scrapyard could have a waste management plant as its tower, and that would be where the acid is.
