I have said this about a few earlier levels I struggled with but THIS level is just straight up EVIL (the first half at least). The amount of times you have to press a switch is unreal and when you do it close off other progress making you wonder what other switch to press to progress. There was absolutely zero need to make it this difficult even if it was from the original, I didn't nearly have as much trouble with other levels but this one it nearly claimed all of my lives. The second half isn't TOO hard but requires timing to avoid being shocked by the little balls of lightning and also of course falling on the spikes below, oh yeah and the Sir Shovalot enemies not pushing you into a wall. The earlier levels in world 8 weren't too bad

Exactly! Mario jumps, lands on platforms, and grabs mid-air ladders/poles ONLY when he feels like it!🙄

This level can go die in a hole. The amount of stuff you have to do in that first section is unbelievable.

I like how when I beat world 8-4 I was like, “Yeah, nothing’s gonna be harder than this.” And then 8-5 appeared. Holy shit, I love this game but I HATE some of these levels

You know, you can just get the red present immediately at the start when riding the lifts, without pressing the yellow or blue switches, and crouching when needed.

tbh idek if this is the actual way to do it! it works yes but not the way the devs intended? you basically have to throw the key on the ledge for it to bounce back behind you to be able to grab the key in time before the conveyor throws you into spikes. you basically cheesed it! (not hating or being negative btw)
