I normally use styrofoam sheets or blocks depending what you want to form and what side. Use sand paper to shape the styrofoam. Look at his ears n shoes

You can make the shape out of anything that's what I do so each time is different material. Let your imagination go wild and your artistic talent work and figure out what you can use to make a shape and cover it with paper, that's all.
