One of my father’s all time favorites. He played polka music, and Marion Lush every Sunday after church on the south side of Chicago. He loved it!

My husband and I were married in September of 1972. we both loved dancing. We had a 5 piece band that played at our wedding but we had so many favorite songs that we made a reel to reel of the songs we would play during the band breaks, When Hey Cavalier Polka came on, we heard a SHOUT coming from the bar, we looked up and the drummer jumped on his drums to accompany the song, turns out he was the drummer for that song that came out in 1961 by Marion Lush ... what luck is that? He was all thrilled and so were we. We have friends BOASTING about the great dancing we had that night a year later because of the Band Break songs we played... we even included a few English tunes for English members of the family. I'm Mexican and my husband was Czech. It was a memorable wedding.

Can't imagine a real Polish wedding without this polka! Marion Lush performed it best!

Marion told me when they were recording in the studio, they had a few minutes of recording time. So, they decided to record Hey Cavalier as a filler. The song turned out to be one of his most popular songs.

Polonia Grove in Chicago in the early 60's those guys were smokin!

My husband and his father ( Both Joe Baranek) used to work on the speaker system for that grove for those Polonia Festivals. He was from the Roseland area but when we were married, we lived closer to it in Westmont. He always told me how much fun they had during those festivals and I have ALWAYS loved Polka music. It's very similar to our NORTENO music.
