I made this in my Instant Pot. I reduced the amount of wine by half and replaced it with broth. I set it to the same times I use when I'm cooking plain jasmine rice: 10 minutes on manual, followed by 10 minutes natural pressure release. Came out great.

@LBellatrix

@@davieboy75 The ratio of rice to liquid for jasmine rice (and basmati and "plain" also; I've done all 3) is 1:1.25. In this recipe, I used 2 cups of jasmine rice and 2.5 cups of liquid (2.25 cups broth and .25 cup Shaoxing wine). I have an older Instant Pot so manual = high pressure. Also you do need to let it sit for at least 10 minutes after the timer ends (natural pressure release). One more thing: I do not wash/rinse my rice prior to putting it in the IP. Hope these tips help!

YES!! It's not really easy to find easy, fast prep recipes for a rice cooker. If one is homeless or lives where there is no cooking access, they could live with just a rice cooker. The things she sauteed I'm sure are better if cooked that way, but could just be put in with everything else.

@@mittensthehousecat4114 Rice cookers start at around $20 (sometimes less) depending on its' functions. A basic rice cooker shows when the rice is in "cook" mode, and automatically switches to the "warm" mode, once your rice has finished cooking. More expensive ones still have these basic functions (like the rice cooker used in this video), but I don't believe you need all these fancy settings to make this recipe.

OMG, Marion !! College students need to watch this video. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but in the U.S., nowadays a lot of college students keep rice cookers in their dormitories, not just Asians, Hispanics, Middle Easterners, etc., but also black and white young people, too. Of course, rice is so affordable, which suits the students’ budget; Jewish kids can even make excellent kasha in rice cookers. Some young people have even “smart rice cookers” like your demonstration !

Love when mama Noi entered the frame. She's so cute. Love you mama Noi... Back to the dish. Well. I'm Asian so having a rice cooker as a cooking gadget in the kitchen is crucial and it is a staple item for most Asian household, especially if you're from East Asia. It's so easy to use, just leave the rice cooker to do its thing, 20mins later and you have your well cooked rice. I even cook biryani rice in my rice cooker instead of on the stove top.

This rice cooker is perfect! I use it only for me kzbin.infoUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia and sometimes me and my friend so the small size is really great for counter space since we never need to make all that much. I have been using it now for about 2 months and it still works perfectly. I use it for both rice and vegetables (better for harder vegetables like green beans and carrots, it made my broccoli way too smoosh-y for my taste). It keeps your rice on keep warm automatically which I really like, and I’ve used a few of the settings, flash rice, white rice, brown rice, and steam, and they all work super well for me, although I don’t like smooshy rice so I’ll usually use flash rice. It’s super easy to clean either in dishwasher or hand wash, and it’s pretty easy to get rice out of the grooves by where the container comes out. I assume this one will last me a long time but if I ever need another I will definitely be getting this one again!

Your rice looks delish 🤤 Definitely will try. Stovetop rice needs to be left ALONE ( no opening )for 20 minutes then turn the rice ( all your grains will cook evenly) , cover and let it go for about 10 minutes or done to your liking . Hispanics, Puertoricans, use aluminum pots so it’s done faster. Time can vary in a cast iron enameled pot.

I love the acting on this one. Marion has been using stovetop for a lot of videos and she always gets the best results. Cooking rice on the stove top. Just boil the rice with suggested liquid ratio in medium heat until you hear it crackling a bit at the bottom of the pot. Stir the rice a little to make the grains cooked evenly and to make sure there's no more liquid at the bottom of the pot. Reduce to the lowest flame possible, wait around 5-10 minutes depending on the amount of rice cooked, then turn off the stove and wait for another 5-10 minutes and you'll get a perfectly cooked rice. My late dad actually teach this to me instead of my mom though she's the one who usually cooked for the whole family.

Saw this video pop up, and had to go straight out to an Asian grocer at the end of my street that I've never shopped at (that'll change), to buy everything I didn't have. This meal is so delicious! Awesome recipe, thanks 👌 Please, more one-pot ideas.

@@Marionskitchen Hey Marion, what size was the small Le Creuset pot? I cook for 1-2 (depending on work travel!) and it looks ideal.

Love seeing these recipes using the rice cooker. I have this model but I’m unsure of what settings to use for what I’m cooking if it isn’t just rice. In fact, I haven’t even used it to cook rice yet, I’ve made other things . Mostly because of how fast it cooks things- especially the tougher meat cuts. They are done in an hour!

If you plan to cook this in an ordinary rice cooker, you have to cook the protein and veggies over the stovetop 1st, so that the oil coats the bottom of the rice cooker. Tried this twice and I always have undercook rice and burnt bottom, had to stir it every now and then, and press Cook again and again. Since I have tried 2 other rice cooker recipes from another vlogger, the difference is this step and it came out just right.

Hi Marion I made this in my tefal 10 in 1 rice cooker. It didn't have a setting like yours so I simply put it on rice setting. Perfect. Sadly I didn't have normal soya sauce, only the dark one, and I was worried it would be too strong, but luckily it was fine. I used bone in thighs as cheaper, but still yummy. Thank you, I love everything you do, and I am constantly experimenting with my rice cooker because it is so versatile. Far better than an air fryer. Hope to bump into you in bkk in January/ February. I will be making more videos for my KZbin channel HarrysHappenings while there. I can't wait.

Thank you Marion for your fun and interactive channel who includes the family...love. Have been a valued subscriber for over a year and I just had to make a comment. I particularly love this recipe and cooked it in my rice cooker this evening. It turned out better than expected, filled with flavour and is a lot better than fried rice lol. I am a rice kind of girl with leg lol. I added some lemon grass and spring onions to the mix and my family loved it. Now its time to invest in a larger rice cooker.

2 tips: use chicken-on-bone when you're not in a hurry for superior flavour; don't stir once rice is put in because it will start releasing starch from rice and make the rice sticky and soggy.

That rice cooker looks pretty good but I am old school and I stick to pots and pans. I've never liked rice cookers; from experience, the rice comes out better on the stove pot for the simple fact that you can adjust the temperature to your liking. Every single person that has had dinner in my home says that my jasmine rice is the best they've ever tasted. I don't do anything special. I basically just add 2 cups of jasmine rice (I first wash it), I add 3 cups of spring water, I set it to boil on high heat for at least 10 min, then I lower it to a very low setting, and I let it cook for about 20 to 30 min. And after, I remove it from the stove and keep it covered for about 25 min to 40 min. I basically treat the rice as if it was like sushi rice, which takes a lot of time to prep. I've had about 4 rice cookers in my life. I've never liked using them, especially with clay pot dishes. Like I said, I stick to pots and pans, and I like to be in charge of the temperature and timer settings.
