An amazing work of registering what’s still original in our culture. Each one of them have this special beauty and sense of luxury. I love the materials, how they all use nature as source of inspiration.

What really moved me about this piece is that, with all the wars, killings and hate in the world, both past and current, we forget what a truly beautiful and wonderful world we have. One that we really ought to cherish.

O fotógrafo só riu qdo viu uma mulher semi-nua. Acho que este não é gay. Talvez seja bissexual.

I was reminded of the late, great photographer Irving Penn, and his photo essay of the children in Cuzco, which was shot for Vogue in the late forties. As a fellow fashion photographer, I'm certain this was an inspiration. However, Testino has taken the concept much further to include a broader range of cultures and of course beautifully shot in vibrant colours. It takes a talented portrait photographer to coax people into revealing who they are.

Yes, thank you. I was trying so desperately to remember where I had seen this style, mode, vein of photojournalism. It was Irving Penn, but with film.

"It takes a talented portrait photographer to coax people into revealing who they are." Facile remark. You don't coax people, that's a misconception, as is the idea that the subjects enter concealing themselves, or that being "comfortable" in front of the camera is a requirement-- it's far from the point. Photography actually reveals nothing of the subject... it is the viewer who is projecting who makes the image live or die. If you achieve a certain set of aesthetic protocols -- as we seen in banal fashion photography -- then a very base but acceptable set of standards has been met. Watching Testino work he's not interested in the people whatsoever, they are mannequins for him to pose, often unnaturally, who remain exotic but unknown, and photographed against a 'fashion grey' backdrop -- of all things! The over-retouching, to the point of annihilation, is the final sin. It's a totally pointless endeavor, replete with silly production designers babbling incoherently.

@@AngryFknDogI'm here for comments that challenge and disrupt the status quo, especially when it comes to how we've been conditioned to accept photographic norms-particularly those shaped by 'fashion' photographers. I'm skeptical of Testino's intentions with this project; it feels like an attempt to reconcile with his "exile" from the fashion world. Inevitably, the industry will welcome him back with open arms, though I doubt he was ever truly cast out.

I prefer the old look of Mario’s work when he shot with a Hasselblad instead of now with a Nikon. This of course is just my dos centavos.

MARIO TESTINO and NIKON COLORS.....heaven COMBINATION
@Ramundo46096 күн бұрын
OMG. I was just talking to someone about that very thing. How there are Nkon blues and Canon blues and Sony blues(colors). The engineers and whoever get together and decide what a true color is!!!! Some folks think there is a universal agreement as to what a blue or a red or any color should be .

I love your work for many years and specially in studio, but when you travel in a poor country what do you bring in return? You go and take all these beautiful pictures of them but do you try to help them? It would be so nice and beautiful if you travel to these country with a more humanitary side. Maybe some of them need easy access to water, maybe women need assistance to give birth, just idea. You should not travel and take only the beauty of them, they are not objects. It's really the way i fill it. Maybe you can work with an NGO in every countries where you and help to make think happen. then, It will be interesting to see you going back to see the evolution of the project. I'm thinking about Sebastião Salgado as a good example. Your pics are still magic to me.

Mario was the victim of harassment by his "friends"; not only heterosexuals are accused. This "African session" was already done by Leni Riefenstahl many years ago. The story unfolds twice: the first time as a tragedy and the second time as a farce.
