@DreamBelief
@DreamBelief 3 жыл бұрын
This is a very old comment so I don't know if you'll even look at this, but I've been learning for several years now, and doing very well, so thought I might answer. Obviously, a class, or immersion, is best, but I'm answering as someone learning on their own at home, without a teacher (and without the means to pay an online one). Shorter, but more frequent study sessions are better than infrequent longer ones. Try to immerse yourself as much as possible eg watch shows of all kinds in japanese (there are websites that help you find simpler ones). At the start I would watch things I knew so I didn't need to read the subtitles, and could just focus on picking up words here and there, and training my ear (don't worry if you only get one word every few minutes. It will get there as you get used to it). I also used subtitled ones sometimes to study grammar etc. Apps like anki are great for vocabulary. A good textbook can help too (don't rush through).

@@DreamBelief Great advice! Consistency and immersion is what I too have found to be the most effective. And for Kanji; just writing them over and over helps a lot. It’s quite meditative as well!

I can tell you from experience that successfully completing research relies most strongly on passion, and the ability to commit energy and time to it. Being smart is very secondary. In fact, even having great freaking and writing skills aren't as important as that (for instance, my friend with severe dyslexia is completing research)
