Watching eXu campaign wrap-up gave me an insight into Fearne's psyche. She is a faun druid, which means she is long lived and very hard to kill. Matt said she didn't have the kind of fear regular folks have. She faced each situation with a certainty that she would survive. As Matt had put it quite succinctly, she is warm saccharine id.

I love all the new characters already. Imogen got the least spotlight here, at least in terms of immediate interest (aside from the stuff with her powers being “overwhelming” which has strong “Caleb goes into a catatonic state when he uses fire to kill people” vibes, so that’s exciting), but it’s fucking Laura, she’ll be great. Laudna is absolutely delightful. Admittedly, Keyleth and Beau both took awhile to grow on me as Marisa found her footing, but I already love this character. She’s like a Tim Burton character. Can’t wait to see what comes of her connection to Whitestone. Ashton is fantastic, and given a lot of his behavior is similar to that of someone who’s experienced severe brain trauma (which he obviously has), I’m thinking Talieson is planning for a much more personal arc for this character, trying to cope with the trauma he’s suffered. FCG is hilarious. Also, the sky is blue. I can’t wait for Sam’s three-foot-tall joke character to make me cry. I love Fearne and Orym together. I hope Orym gets expanded upon a bit more, and given that Liam has apparently had the character idea since 2017, I expect nothing less. They have strong, “We posses two braincells between us, and both of them belong to Orym,” energy, with Dorian there to provide the oh-so-critical third braincell. Speaking of Dorian, he’s one of my favorite guest characters in a long time, which is no small feat. That may just be my obsessive love for Robbie Daymond talking, but he’s a legitimately good character and adds a lot to every scene he’s in. The pickpocketing exchange was my favorite in the whole episode, he and Fearne are great. I like Bertrand, but I’m hopeful that he’s not permanent. He comes off as little more than a joke, which is fine for a character that isn’t intended to be a major focus, and Travis seems to be playing him as such. I’m excited for whoever Travis does end up playing, but if Bertrand does end up being permanent, then well…guess we’ll just have to see what Travis can do with him. Edit: oh and also, the exchange between Dorian and Laudna during the fight is amazing. Dorian playing up his cheeriness out of fear while Laudna is absolutely genuine in hers is fantastic, and the voice stutters Robbie does are so goddamn good. This first session is so great

You are cutting FCG short. I think Sam has made an amazing character that is going to be super "DEEP" in the future. Obviously Sam didn't make FCG only to make jokes with. If you remember when FCG talked about souls he mentioned didn't think he had one, he was probably foreshadowing what his character was about. I'm really hoping he made a character that will explore what it means to be alive, does he have a soul what is a soul? why are there no robot ghosts? and have cute moments where he talks to his deity and other powerful beings about his existence. i suck at writing hope i got my point out. I love that Laudna feels like a Disney Villainous character who's trying to figure out how to be a good person, but can't quite rid themselves of their general evil mannerisms. It's unbelievably endearing. Her backstory is going to be intense... I have theories, but I won't spoil it for people... Though, many have picked up on the same beats as I have. This campaign is going to be so much fun. Can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

(I can be a mature adult) Meanwhile Ashley is thinking, "WTF do I say!?" Matt facepalms and is thinking, "It's the first episode and I'm already overdosing on Tylenol!!!" Taliesin, "It's so nice seeing other people having to hear this. It's really bringing everything into sharp perspective." (I'm not stopping this. I'm also not, NOT encouraging this.) Robby and Travis are snickering like they just dared a friend to do something and Sam did it. Ashley breaks. Liam: "This has been...a day." (Let's try to move things along) Robby breaks. Ashley: "That took me by surprise." (We were all thinking it!) Laura focuses on her screen. (Yup, just a mature adult right here.) Liam: "This has been a day." (Maybe saying it again will help?) Taliesin: (Message received!) "Y-you, what was your name?" Ashley starts speaking while Marisha believes they made it through ("Sailed past it"). Liam and Laura break. Then Travis whispers, "Did you say, "Send Help?" Causing Matt, Travis, and Taliesin to break. Marisha breaks down for a second time. And the scene moves on amidst snickers and quiet laughs. How'd I do? :)

I wanna focus on Orym for a minute, mostly because it seems like everyone is writing him off as a bland boring character. I personally feel like Orym is the closest thing to a possible video game protagonist in the group. He is levelheaded, has off handed witty humor, is a good dude but also not a stick in the mud, and just seems like he will be the rock in the group for everybody similarly to how Cadeuces was to the M9. I also really like the way he is playing a Battle Master, adding some of his Caleb flair for making his normal attacks have flair without going way over the top. His attacks are very simple, but descriptive and to the point which makes imaging the fight that much more vivid.
