It’s great to see my two favourite gardeners appear together! I’ve swiped ideas from both of you :) Best of both worlds.

Love this! Been a fan of Nikki’s for a long time! I use a number of containers to avoid the roots of the trees near my garden! Great information!

I tried baby pools, rocks in the bottom, holes on the side. I put my grow bags on top of the rocks and I don't have to water every day and it works well.

Enjoyed this chat.....I use a few grow bags because I have them and put leaves about one third of the way so as not to use so much soil. Like playing around with grow containers.

You can make fabric pots on the cheap with landscape fabric and a sewing machine or large needle and thread.

I tried pots for the first time this year because i didn’t have the time to install a garden fence. It’s pretty slick, i’ll always have cherry tomatoes on my back porch from now on.

The added expense of container/bag growing is what initially turned me off to this method of growing. Leaf mold mixed with backyard soil and thrown away hanging plant and fall mums growing medium that I collect and re-purpose has worked well for me. I purchase 30L plastic totes for a dollar at thrift stores. $8 fish emulsion and alfalfa pellets for fertilizer. This is almost as cheap as I am. I've had great success with tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, chard, and herbs. It doesn't have to break the bank.

Not that it’s a contest, but I’ll take the simple no dig method any time.
