Video Nr. 244 | Orgelmusik zum 02. 06. 2024 | 9. Sonntag im Jahreskreis
[English description below] Marius Monnikendam studierte zunächst am Amsterdamer Konservatorium (wo er später selber lehrte), dann in Paris an Vincent d’Indy's Schola Cantorum.

Wed. J.R. van Rossum - Utrecht, Nr. 522
Marius Monnikendam first studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory (where he later taught himself), then in Paris at Vincent d'Indy's Schola Cantorum. This French influence can be seen in his compositional style. His organ work “Cortège” (Procession), composed in 1963, does not just have a French title. The solemn and varied piece, which gains tension and energy through the continuous repetition of the quarters, is a synthesis of "modern" music from the Netherlands with French coloring.
Recorded on May 16, 2023 | Christoph Bartusek on the organ (Weimbs 2009 - 26 / II / P - after Gebr. Stumm) at St. Peter / Rheinberg.
