I don't understand why California planted Australian gum trees (Aussie here). They are great in some respects (Grow fast, even in hot dry areas), but most need fire to reproduce, and shed highly flamable bark to achieve this, a single lightning strike and you have a conflagration. There are way better trees that don't have this fire risk.

It's because they grow fast and straight, good for business. They are also all over Africa now, in giant plantations, and on every little farmstead. I'm not too happy about what this might lead to.

They apparently deforested a large chunk of countryside over there in the gold rush and decided on Eucalytus as it grows fast. They also failed to understand it needs fire to propagate, and does everything in it's power to set up the perfect conditions for a fire. On top of all that they don't have the species there like we do that eat the leaves so the canopies are denser than here. I remember in the 2019 bush fires seeing one literally explode like a bomb from the heat.

We were in above average position before trump came into office back in 2016. wether we had a republican or a democrat in office things changed improved or not depending on your positions everyone has different beliefs and so forth... But we all made it through without things drastically changing never has there been a president who didn't protect our constitution and follow the written laws that our leaders have put into action following years of seeing what was needed to have a democracy that worked. Now trump is coming back into office without the people who checked him and didn't allow him do anything to drastic because he had a gut feeling telling him to do it.
