God, I love Gormley. Truly. For these songs being recorded in the late 70s and mid 80s, they are an interesting mix of influence and innovation. He shows that among all the billions of people on Earth, there are certainly a big amount who are as talented as the most famous and most well known but nobody ever hears about. I can honestly talk about how and why that didn't happen for him, but I'd rather just praise the man. Gormley is super talented. When I hear his songs, I hear influences from Boston, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, and I also hear the Beginnings of other musical genres like grunge and the iconic 90s soft rock. What a true gem he is

I love that the last song is Mark now old, his voice exhausted, and his youth a distant memory, with all that remains is a musical soul, a old man full of talent that lived in a world that never wanted his music. But still,he sings. Even if the days of maybe, just maybe, making it are behind him and his chances of using the talent he once had now gone, his old, exhausted body, unable to do it anymore still sings.

Mark's talent IMO goes up there with the best. You could tell anyone who doesn't know him that his songs have been written by the greatest artists of rock and folk history and they would believe you on the spot. Little Wings could be a John Denver song. Beginnings, a Pearl Jam song. The Cries in Your Eyes, a Jim Croce song. Gray Days, Gordon Lightfoot. Without You, freakin' Led Zeppelin! But anyone would also tell you they don't quite sound the same. That's because Mark had his own sound, his own lyrics.
