Jody is one of the best instructional guys I've seen on KZbin. Everything about this lesson is fantastic. I will be learning this all note for note and using it on my demos (and live). Rock on Jody, thanks so much mate. Love accent too haha :-).

Great lessons. To all the KZbin guitar teachers out there, take a page from Jody Worrell. Clear, concise and a goodly amount of repetition to sink those licks in there. Great job.

Hot damn, that 8th fret to 5th fret pull-off on the g-string in the Bm pentatonic (Blues scale) truly does nail Knopfler's sound! I cut my teeth on guitar 40 years ago by trying to sus Knopfler's Dire Straits licks off the records. It never occurred to me to pull off from the flat 5 to the minor 3 on the g-string. (Damn, I just confused myself picturing the scale tones without my guitar at hand!)

at the beginning, why do you choose not to bar the 8th fret? Surely it's faster to change notes that way?

Thanks for a great video. I just wonder why lick-4 note dose not match what you played. The 2nd string is 8, but you seem play 7. I wonder why.

Id like to ask out of pure interest as i see something here thats been repeating in lessons i see since i used to buy guitar mags back in the day. Its not meant as a judgemental thing or critisism, it genuinely puzzles me, id simply be interested in some kind of an answer that isnt a crazy one. Ive asked folk before and got that. Any ways.....why dont teachers that teach things specific to an artist teach licks specific to the artist? Like the first lick here is onbviously based on the sultans of swing lick in the second sultans solo, so why didnt you just do that lick instead of doing "almost" that lick. Guitar mags that did stye files and the like did this everytime and as a learner i can honestly say it was completely perplexing. Im not trying to knock here, these are great videos and im sure theyll help alot of budding guitarists, i just always wonder why people dont just do the lick the way the artist did it. Ps please dont say its a copyright issue....that would be too much for me to handle.

These are some pretty tasty songs. I'd be pretty happy to come up with stuff like this to use in a song but he just throws it away as exercises :(
