I just bought the two CD boxes. I can’t justify buying the vinyl especially since they’re manufactured by CZ media which have patchy quality control. Even the bonus CD in my second set had surface marks and looked used! Totally unacceptable. I agree the MFN vinyl comp is a total sham. Again for the price unacceptable. I’ll stick with my original! Fine review and thanks for not trying to gloss over the sets.

It's good Down The Road Wherever has all the tracks, I really like Drover's Road and Rear View Mirror, my vinyl has 13 tracks so misses those tracks. I have 3 of the 4 albums already just missing Get Lucky so it's not really a necessary purchase for me. I think this period is his strongest from Get Lucky to the last album. It was good Mark mixed it up a bit with the last album with some different styles. Looking forward to the next album which looks like it will be out at the end of this year or early next year. It might be his last especially as he isn't touring any more.

Late to the Party, but I finally decided to buy both Boxes and I am happy to report that both of them are totally ok and sound very good. GH and STP I thought sound extremely good, fresh and crisp. The both mistakes you were referring to in Baloney and Paraguay were immediately checked and on my copies both tracks are absolutely ok. Some of the records especially in the second box are uneven, but that's not a very big deal as I am not an audiophile geek. Thanks for your informative video (which got all the facts right which is not standard today). Only thing that occured to me is that the second box is much more boring music wise over all. An own studio does not automatically mean better music, but that's just my opinion of course.

thanks for showing this.....appreciating Mark, more an more as I move on. I did not see Altamira ? As I wrote this, I checked the prices, and was very disappointed about $215 US . It is so tough to spend this much money on albums these days. The Box sets are disappointing for avg fans, and feel we are missing out as these are sold as a set, rather then allow us to hand pick a double album for $40. The Prints are for diehards....so this is marketed to folks like yourself. Might as well throw in, I do not know why Mark did not create VINYL for these albums originally. Understood....everyone has their situation, and this is an ongoing issue and concern with the recent Vinyl market itself. I am a long time RnR'er and vinyl collector. But, with that all said, I am sure you are diving into some great music.

I love the Tracker album. It's so peaceful and quiet. I noticed some minor quality issues with the LP's also. One has a light surface scratch. Another song has a squeeky sound at the beginning. And another song from the 1st box set has some crackle at the beginning. That aside, it's a wonderful collection of the most beautiful songs. I had some problem with the 2nd box set that I pre-ordered from Mark's website. Only to be waiting for over a month and receive a message that they were "sold out". Luckily I was able to order it from Amazon, which saved quite some money by avoiding the import cost to Belgium. Now if only they could do a re-pressing of the roadrunning LP, I would be in heaven.

Yes, I would love to have seen All the Roadrunning included with the first set, though it’s understandable that it wasn’t since it is not technically a solo album. I do hope it sees a remastered vinyl issue at some point. It’s missing from my collection as well.

I sent my Vol one back three times and finally got a replacement plus a refund. So far Vol two is fine.

Dire straits made 3 live albums, the one you miss is Live at the BBC.
@mikechildmusic2 жыл бұрын
True. I suppose Live at the BBC is an easy one to overlook because it’s a relatively obscure release, and it was really only thrown out there to complete Dire Straits’ recording contract so that Mark could properly begin his solo career. Astonishingly, I have never actually owned that album. What with Rockpalast being such a good representation of that original Dire Straits sound, I guess I’ve just never felt the need for it! I’ll probably get to it eventually.
