I think the issues is becausw the whole story wasnt fleshed iut beginning to end when they started. The writers had to write to fit a specific narrative everytime. Had they written it all fron the start as one big planned story not in pieces....there may be more continuity with stuff like this

I know later on they explained why her and her mom didn’t have the greatest relationship. I think it was mainly because she reminded her so much of her father. It doesn’t mean she really has an excuse to reject her though.
