Yes, Mary knew! That is why we Catholics hold Her in such high regard. We don’t worship her above Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We give her the honor she deserves as the mother of God. Every time I see this song, I check to see if offensive language is still used. Did you know that the MOST unreached population in the U.S. is the deaf? Did you know that ASL is the 3rd most used language in the U.S.? And did you know that deaf consider being called "DUMB" just because they don't speak is highly offensive? Please consider, if the Bible can be updated to use more modern language, then so can the lyrics to a song. I suggest changing the word 'dumb' to 'mute'. Thank you for your consideration. Whats fascinating to one person may not be to another:) I think its amazing that such thoughts can be a song...and what Mark tries to tell also. It was only his thoughts. But it also shows the power of a curious mind,I believe. Most times we read the Bible and accept it as is...on face value,you may say. And I"m not saying its not true. But there are so many layers to God. And when you really begin to ponder thru the stories,and try to picture them,you can get curious to certain things. And I believe thats where we learn more abt God. In asking questions- respectfully. He will show you more than the surface value of the story. As to Mary knowing? I dont believe she fullly comprehended to the deepest level. Remember she " pondered things in her heart". And her and Joseph did not understand when Jesus told them He "must be about His Father's business". Oh,she knew He was different,but just how vastly different? His purpose and destiny?
