Surrounded by bandmates living their wildest dreams, Morton wanted nothing more than to disappear, ingesting potentially lethal cocktails of drugs and alcohol on a daily basis. And yet intertwined with self-destruction and harrowing heartbreak, there were moments of joy, self-acceptance, and incredible connection. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The audiobook version was especially good as it was spoken by Mark. The music Mark has created and my connection with it as a listener and as a guitar player has been extremely important to me over my 20 years of sobriety. Then to hear Mark speak about his recovery journey adds to the connection for me. I respect that Mark didn’t speak much on Chris Adler. While part of me would like to know that story, ultimately respect for everyone concerned is a classy way to handle it. I’m looking forward to listening to the book again.
