Bells Beach means Australian surfing heritage. As one of the sport’s longest-running events, it’s an old-school test of power and rail-to-rail surfing for today’s progressive athletes. The deep history, combined with the pressure of the fast-approaching Mid-season Cut, makes getting a win and ringing “The Bell” one of the great honors in the sport.

Occy and Pagey starred as the Aussies in the Universal film I directed, "North Shore". Only 21 at time, his huge talent and personality lit up the screen. Forever grateful, Oc. You still have the magic.

North Shore will always be my favorite surf movie. I was on a waiting list when I heard it would be released on DVD with a bunch of extra features. Too bad a soundtrack was never released. The movie's music featured lots of amazing Aussie bands and other great classic tunes like Journey's Happy to Give... 🤙🏼

Just discovered it over the weekend after re-watching Matt Adler in White Water Summer. I’m not a surfer but really enjoyed how the movie created/captured the passion most surfers have for it. I work with a couple of white collar guys that surf and they are the only guys I know that can disappear from corporate life for a month long surf vacation lol.

So grateful to get to watch this event!! Such legends and to me these blokes are STILL the best goofy and natural surfers of all time!!!!! Wouldn't have mattered who 'Won', just so great to see these frothers ripping like ever! I was lucky enough to see the 81 Bells with Simon on the original board in Mammoth Bells, and to win this replica board would be so frgn great. Being a natural footer and watching countless video of Tom Curren, man what a style master, and such a super humble guy. Love you both even if you were just posters on my wall and surfers to try and emaulate. So stoked for everyone who loves surfing!! Ring that Bell. Yeeewwwwh

Tom Curren 1990 at Margaret River, longest wave ever ridden there I believe, I caught up with Tom on the walk back up the pathway from where he rode the wave into the next bay, what an awesome guy, I was elated for him , he was his usual very calm self. I do believe I was wearing my channel islands cap that day and I knew he was going to be the champ that year.
