About the power flicker. It draws over 1000mah of power so you’d need the 2000mah plug or the bigger 5000mah plug from menards to supply enough power. Recently found this out myself. Learned that anything with a motorized function required a dedicated plug. But make sure you have the bigger power plug option. Great review!

Looking good, Mark...can't wait to see your extended bench work when you can get to it. The comment below by Charles Heinke is right on target. A different power cord arrangement should fix the blinking issue. The car dealership should be available in all the stores by Black Friday weekend. Thanks for unboxing it for us! T4

The blinking on Menards buildings is an insufficient wattage power supply problem. Menards sells several 4.5 vdc power supplies at different wattages. Their accessories that have motors need the higher wattage. The solution on their end would be to stop selling the chintzy low wattage power supplies. Try the one from your Schneider.

Thanks Bill, I will order a new one with a higher wattage. Makes perfect sense.! I have an unusual wiring situation on a ping pong table so I can’t easily get to most of the plugs. I live in a major metropolitan area and none of the 10 Menards stores have power supplies. 😳 Thanks so much for the info.! Mark

There is no outer shipping carton... And , the brown box is the discrete packaging even though I can't see that the indescrete packaging would be any different

I don’t pay extra for that anymore and I have them ship to the store for free.! I have several Menards buildings with outer shipping cartons and am assuming this one did as well at one time.! Thanks for Watching and commenting.! Mark

@@markslioneltrains is it just a box or does it have product info / manufacturer info on it ..., I would imagine that each unit comes in an exterior plain box if that or nothing... I would think that a bunch of them come together in a larger carton pretty MUCH as They are ... LIKE blister packages of dicast cars or action figure toys All if which are each not in a very different price category , whereas those models are 100 bucks the high end dicast and figures are Like 40 to 50 dollars And approximately as sensitive to damage.. plus it's obvious Menards doesn't Care if those models get minor damage

@@bobbybrooks4826 Yes Bobby the outer carton has product/manufacture info details and a small picture of the item. The inner blister pack is protected by Styrofoam corner blocks. Rolling stock also comes in an outer carton if you order on line with product info label only. The dealer pack box in my Mark's Lionel Trains Gets Tanked video is very similar to the other outer cartons in the Menards Line. I think I show one? Agree about the high end models for sure.

That was an ugly generic Menards big box they folded down. My Schneider truck depot and my Wally's Gas Station have the factory outer box. The employee at the store was very apologetic that it was still it the shipping box. I said No No that's fine I will take it just like that. Thanks for watching.! Mark

Awesome Hunter.! You can order from Menards on line and have it shipped to your door.! I just got my Caboose and all the trucks have loose screws with wheels falling out. I will have to take the entire caboose apart to get to the screws before it can be even run. Never had that problem with Lionel.! I ordered a SP MTH one also so we will see how it goes with that one?

I have several buildings from Menards and also noticed blinking on one. I had it hooked up with another building and it was drawing to much power. Needed to hook up separately and blinking stopped.

Mark- Yes, all the screws have to come off the back hatch. Take a look at the official Menard"s valley motors video on utube or their site. Also, I am with you... I like the original boxes and have only received one non-original box of all I have ordered. I am thinking your not receiving an original box may be due to one of two things: 1) It was shipped directly from a store maybe because the warehouse was out? 2) You asked for discrete shipping. Remember, there is often a picture and description of the building on the outside of the original boxes. That would not have been discrete to ship in. Subscriber here. Excellent review and videos!

@@markslioneltrains Hey Mark, I honestly don't think there's any rhyme or reason why we receive original boxes or not. I think hanging onto the blister-pack is more important if ever you resell it. I am always just grateful I received a good unit! And it looks like the one you got works great!

It will be a nice building once you get the kinks worked out. Gave me an idea that a 'Back to the Future' themed layout could be cool.. The town was 'Hill Valley' and Marty travels back to 1955. And you could have the courthouse and high school. A military facility storing plutonium could be featured with Dr. Brown finding ways to obtain it to fuel the delorean and his experiments.. Wally's station would fit in well to that era also..

Email Menards and tell them about the boxes. I've contacted them before and at least got a answer. I'd tell them about the power cords as well! Thanks for sharing. Can the ford on the top be removed??

Menards is not the place you shop for Lionel or anyone else's trains. They are similar to Amazon and have no consideration of the products they sell as far as originality of the product they ship to customers. In the future I suggest you purchase your train items from a reputable Lionel train dealer. Jim

I'm sorry you feel that way about Menards. I purchased Taco Bell 3 years ago and did not even have a layout at the time because it looked really cool. John Menard has a childhood love for the trains and I have not been disappointed with any of the buildings. Rolling stock is a work in progress for them as I have many bad Menards wheels in two Gondola cars replaced by Lionel Trucks. They did get it right with the new tankers as I have 27 of them 108 wheels only one slightly sticky one. Couplers are again a different story as 3 are held up with twist ties with 4 others I was able to fix. I AGREE Lionel has 100% reliability on all my rolling stock but I pay 3 to 4 times more for them. 85% of my railroad is Lionel from my favorite Reputable Lionel dealer America's Best Trains and Hobbies.! BIG👍Tony, Tim, Bob and the rest of folks for great service the past 25 years.! No Atlas, No MTH, No DCC. I'm Mark's Lionel Trains for a reason. Thanks for watching.!👍 Mark 😀
