Manilla Road were prominent, influential and successful in metal circles. Their legacy is secure. Nevertheless, they are the epitome of a band that, if talent, songwriting and uniqueness were any sort of barometer, should have been FAR bigger commercially than they were.

I was there! Great show. I had listened to a few Manilla Road songs before but I wasn't the biggest fan.... this show changed that. Also, me and my friends (one who's the biggest Manilla Road fan) got to meet and talk to Neudi. As soon as we arrived at the festival, there he was, hanging out, smoking a cigarillo. Sweetest guy ever, really humble and friendly. My friend got to fangasm for a good 20 minutes, took pictures and gave us all hugs. Overall an awesome guy!

A very emotional and bravely taken challenge in memory of a great (riddle)Master of Metal. In defense of my Lusitanian Brethren, I say, Tann did very well, as expected. Mr Mark Shelton. Let us guard his incredibly creative legacy in Metal. His former cohorts and close friends set the example, so let it be repeated henceforth. Meanwhile, he's become the Voyager. The more i see dino's having to resort to samurai gimmicks or to tediously long narratives of plastic operetta, the more I know i've followed the right axeman and Bard.

I am really sad to write this, but I am disappointed! Why did you ignore all the 2001-2017 stuff? If nothing gets played from ,,The Circus Maximus" or ,,Mark of the Beast" (because the one was a Mark Shelton solo album, the other one not even was supposed of being released, originally) I understand this completely. But nothing from ,,Invasion", ,,Out of the Abyss", ,,Atlantis Rising", ,,Spiral Castle", ,,Gates of Fire", ,,Voyager", ,,Playground...", ,,Mysterium", ,,The Blessed Curse" or ,,To Kill a King"? Sorry, but there was not just an 80s/early 90s Manilla Road, we also have a 70s, 2000s and 2010s period of the band. Nevertheless, I am glad that there has been a Mark Shelton tribute anyway and that the performance of the musicians has been so passionated, but this doesn't change my opinion that all chapters and albums should be considered on such a concert equally - instead of leaving 10 (!) studio albums out of this tribute concert.
@SwissCheese6674 жыл бұрын
I guess they chose to play the "classic" stuff which most people are familiar with. I agree with you though, I think the band's later outputs don't get enough recognition. I, for one, listen to their recent albums way more often than to their 80's stuff - something I would never do when it comes to Priest, Metallica, Maiden, Slayer, Helloween, etc. In that regard, MR is my big exception when it comes to those "classic" 80s bands still active nowadays. I'm really into the more subdued, kind of understated approach in sound and songwriting Mark went for in the more recent works (especially from "Playground..." on). Albums like "Gates of Fire" or "The Blessed Curse" may not contain such instant hits like "Necropolis" but - at least in my opinion - work better as a whole and have a higher "re-listening" potential. MR also always kept their rough edge and old-school vibe, thanks to the raw production, Mark's wild soloing, the "amateurish" singing, the painted (rather than CGI) cover artworks, etc. All in all, I'd say that they are one of the few 80's bands that have aged well - that is without becoming a boring, uninspired, polished-down caricature of themselves. Just my two cents.

Is this supposed to be the Ninth wave? Can forgive a lot, but never a vocalist who is out of tune, and this song is light years beyond him. The patient doesn't know what he's doing and he certainly doesn't hear himself. If this song had been recorded in the 60s in such a hopeless mess and with this vocalist, it would have been quickly forgotten - fortunately!!!
