Had the pleasure of seeing Khruangbin live, Mark's tone was amazing in person. He used the trick at 4:29 with the expression pedal controlling the delay feedback often throughout the show, mostly for transitions, and it was amazing every time, the whole venue was filled with that whirring tape oscillation sound and then he'd pull the repeats back right as the next song started

This is a complete opposite approach to what I do. He uses mostly skill and the pedals just add spice, whereas I use pedals to compensate for poor skills. My dude has got real talent.

Love the wah always on. Because of this I started doing it as well. Fantastic tone. Tone knob around 3 for your usual sound and simply increase to bring in wah effect or anything in between.

Interestingly, Ernie Isley knew Hendrix when he was younger. When Jimi played with the Isely Brothers in the mid 60s, he'd hang out at their mom's house. Ernie says he'd watch them rehearse and that Jimi liked watching the Beverly Hillbillys with him. Makes sense when you hear how Ernie played.

Why does Mark have tape covering parts of the logos of the pedals? Doesn't seem like it's to hide the brand as he covers over "el capistan" and then leaves "strymon" exposed. Any thoughts?

He's got some hot rails or something for pickups. Not sure if they're made to sound like single coils with no noise or humbuckers. If they're the traditional hot rails then they're designed to be humbuckers. His middle pickup is single coil though.

I've had that same boss phase shifter on that stage 8 phase for over 18 years. The pedal glitches out now if I try to move it to another stage so I just leave it. 🤷♂️
