John ended up contributing so much (outstanding) material to the 'Second Opinion' LP it is almost like a de facto first solo album. Marvin Welch & Farrar are underrated to this day; there's a lot of CSNY fans out there who don't know what they are missing!

Spot on. MW & F were and are hugely underrated. Great songs and immaculate performances - many years before Autotune became an easy fix!

John Farrar fitted in very well with The Shadows. While he was with the Shadows he wrote some very good music. As well as being a great writer and producer for Olivia Newton-John.

a very very special guy,,my respect and awe for him as a master musician and magician has grown massively..i so wish i could tell him that..and that i noticed his themes/undercurrents in his work..oh well

Spot on. Musicians were not paid what they were worth at that time. Promoters and venue owners took the cream of all musicians. 😱

Interesting to hear how he felt about The Strangers. I never thought about how he might have felt leaving them. Did they continue without him?

So which came first? Did John join up with Hank and Bruce and that's how Bruce started working with Olivia? Or did Bruce meet Olivia first and that's now John met them? Those early Olivia albums had Bruce, and a little Marvin in key roles. I'll have to put together a time line of sorts.
