How good is the Freewell V2 - Hybrid VND CPL? Pretty damn good...

This is the best V2 review I've seen so far. I wanted to know if there is a 7-stop vignetting or x-factor on the 20mm.

Thank you very much for this review, you're the only one mentioning if the range of stops is enough for sunny day with 1.1 to 2.8 lenses and you confirm what I suspected. I have the Sirui nightwalker @1.2 and I think the V2 would be enough in bright sun because I'm shooting log (800) and I'm not planning on going lower than 2.8 and don't mind bump it up to 5.6. I think I'd complement this kit with a good 1-3 for interior shots with studio lights just in case. Thanks again.

Hey Mark, nice review. I enjoyed your honesty about sometimes needing more than an ND of 7. I have a fujifilm camera Flog2 is 1250 ISO. My main lens is the XF23 1.4 WR and I usually film as low as 1.8 aperture so this ND just won't cut it. If there any great clearity VND that has at least 9 of not 10 stops you'd recommend? I've been wondering about the Kase Wolverine Magnetic 2nd Generation Vari ND 1.5-10 Stop ND3 to ND1000 I have no clue if this is any good but it has a super wide range of stops. There are ZERO reviews on this VND.

Thanks for sharing your real world experience of the V2. At the end of your video I saw your matte box and for a second I thought you might have combined it with the V2. Could you tell me if you can combine it with a matte box? According to the diameter specs on Freewell’s site, the base would appear to fit within a 95mm adapter ring for a matte box. However would the V2 still fit on the base and would the ease of use become compromise?

Hey Douglas, I replaced the matte box with the V2. I did not combine the two:) Sry:) I would have to think about how to pull that off.... Best regards Mark

Would you recommend this for a hybrid shooter run and gun shooter? My concerns are mainly: - Because its a combo filter that means I can't ever just use a CPL for photos without also introducing a 3 stop light reduction - Similarly I can't just use the VND without also having to check my polarization as well. Seems like its awesome for controlled environments though

I have a similar one from K&F that is VND and CPL. I would say it works well. If you don't want to use CPL, just turn it until you can see the reflection.

I aleady have some Black Mist, if I understand well, it wont fit with this system since it's magnetic right, and mine are screwed in?

Have you figured out a way use a lens hood / matte box hood with this VND?
