ngl, i usually love slimmer boots underneath the flares more than chunky, it does lean more western but i think the silhouette just looks 🔥

Flairs actually were worn by young men in the 1930s. They would typically be part of suits and were cut with a very high rise, cuffs and often really complicated waist band closures.

You mean Oxford Bags. They were wide leg trousers and baggy more than flaired. Flares became popular from the early 70s onward, and flared gradually from the thigh, not flipped out around the shin to end up looking like a trumpet. Worn to the floor with platform shoes or Adidas Samba.

Madcap England and atom retro offer bells and flares in denim and cords.. I bought several pairs, they are well made and fit well. Plus they are made in England.. NOT China. Time to chuck the skinny jeans.. Cheers 🍻

Mr.Boobiequeer you should have mentioned the old Avery Ginsberg (geared toward gear) video in which he shows how to really easily make a cheap pair of flares with basically no sewing skills needed

The first and last pairs were not flares, they're just straight leg pants. If the area between the knees down doesn't a triangle shape and "flares" out, then they're aren't flares. Understand, flares are always just slimmer bell bottoms. Regular bell bottoms are even more big, they have the big triangle shape from the knee down. The reason young people think those first, and last pants you showed are flares are because they have been used to those damn skinny jeans that they don't know what regular straight leg pants are. Love your pants, you have interesting fashion sense and I like it. I'm 49 years old so I have wear flares and big bell bottoms when I was young in the 70's. This was a neat video. But yeah, if the knee down isn't a triangle shape, they aren't flares or big bells. Remember, flares are just smaller bell bottoms.

what do you recommend when it comes to sizing for vintage levi’s flares/pants in general
@mark_boutilier3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the rise but typically i stay tts
@emoburger420693 жыл бұрын
Yeah I typically ask for measurements too. My vintage 517s are tts and they fit perfectly. Sometimes they shrink a bit tho so I think sizing up is ok too
@alexiodoloso28783 жыл бұрын
i recommend always asking for measurements but i typically go 2 sizes bigger like i wear a 36 waist but in levis i wear a 38 with 517s and flares in general because they’re typically thinner in the thighs

The flared pants, or “bell bottoms”, make the wearer look ugly if the wearer has short hair. You need to have enough hair to make your haircut look wavy so it matches the widening lines of the pants. Either flowing hair that goes below the ear level or a beard. They also don’t work for men who are wide in the mid section.
